Hello All

I was woken yesterday morning by my alarm going off on my FR. So looked out of the window and switched it off then got up to go off to work to find that all the windows had decided to drop down. Rain was very hevy at the time so interior very wet. Not a comfortable journey to work:cry:

Contacted my local dealer who said to drop off that evening for them to dry out and check over. Collected today from them and all they could find that the alarm had gone off but not sure why the windows had dropped. So they have reset the software and also told me that I had all the latest hardware and software installed and said it should't happen again but if it does go back to them:blink::confused:

Anyone had the same happen to them??

be sure not to keep the unlock button pressed for too long when unlocking the car. try it in the dry and youll see what has probably happened.

There are a few similar posts on here but I don't believe anyone got to the bottom of it...

The remote for the car has quite a decent range - I can certainly lock/unlock my car from in the house. I sometimes notice I've accidentally unlocked the car again while walking away, presumably due to another key or something pressing the button in my pocket (not too worried by this though as the car locks itself again after a few seconds if no doors are opened). Perhaps you accidentally held down the open button whilst in range of the car?

The were on the floor overnight so not touched and the alarm went off at 6.30am. I know that the car was all locked up as my wife got home from work at 10pm the night before in her own car.:help:

im guessing you used the remote to switch the alarm off. if you hold the button down on the remote for a bit longer than it takes to unlock the car (which i imagine it is easy to do if your a bit sleepy and in a panic because the alarm is going off) the windows on the car will lower. its a convenience setting, but in this instance it hasnt been very convenient.
try it now before it gets dark. if you press and hold the lock button all the windows will close as well as locking the car.

Take it back to the dealers, tell them to turn the convenience control OFF for the window operations. We have it all the time at Audi!

This happend to mine twice, dealer changed both front window motors and its never happend again.
Apparently its a known problem.
Hope this helps.
