Evening all, my 17 leon fr tdi has a weird rattle noise when accelerating. If I'm on the motorway and accelerate at 60-70mph it rattles. It only does it when I put my foot in the accelerator. Anyone come accross this? It sounds like a vibrating rattling sound? Any ideas?

From my experience, I had this 'only vibrates/rattles when accelerating.'

The dealer did 2 things that sorted it, but I don't know if it was one or the other or both!

They removed the instrument cluster and tightened it/change the clips, and they tightened the screw in the A pillar. Does pressing your hand on the dash between the 'centre speaker' and above your speedo stops the rattle? From my ear, the rattle seems to come from the 11 o'clock position for this particular one.

I guess passenger side A Pillar you need a passenger to press or hit when the rattle starts. Or believe it or not, once I had some crap that rattled in the glove box, droped the glove box, rattle gone.

*Edit: Oh I just realised you had a 2017 'facelift' Leon, what I said above may not be applicable.

I have a similar thing, however my rattle is definitely coming from under the car and sounds like a tiny pebble stuck in the exhaust. Should be going into the dealer over the next couple of weeks so can let you know what they say if this sounds similar.

@zombiemorg perhaps the metal clip that fastens your exhaust to the chassis has somehow got a bit loose?

Had a friend who's Audi A3 TDI had the same issue. I told her this, and when she went into workshop, it was this.
