I have just been to unlock my car and the alarm went off. Locked/unlocked again and it stopped.

Then when starting the engine "ESP Fault" bonged up on the MFD and the three lights (tyre pressure, ABS, TCS) are lit on the dash. These all cleared after I drove a short distance, as if the battery had been disconnected.

Any thoughts?

I've ordered a bluetooth ODB thing so will scan for faults when that arrives.

I'm not going to be any help but this happened to me on Sunday, (apart from the alarm).
Just wondering if you have a link to the Bluetooth ODB you've ordered?
And which app are you going to scan with?
Cheers

Thanks for the reply, it's strange I've had the occasional "bong" when starting the car before but with no lights or faults up on the MFD.
It's done this today after a 20 mile trip with no issues. Parked up at the supermarket and when starting up again gave the fault/lights. Maybe water has got into a sensor or something.

I've ordered the Carista ODB, and plan to try the Carista app on iPhone

I've been having a look on the web, found a thing on thread on a scirocco forum with a guy that had the same ESP Fault on the MFD, he went to a VW dealer and they replace his battery and told him it was to do with a low battery, this stopped the ESP fault on the MFD.
I think/hope this is what's wrong with mine as I only seen it once and I've hardly used my car in the last year, only done around 2500mile so would explain why the battery was low.

This is strange I get this comes in when you say drive for 29 seconds or so, abs. Traction and tyre pressure light. All goes off to when driving not doing anything. Haven't had time to scan via vcds I'm doing it in the morning, my theory was.

Started when Mrs hit a pot hole

Also when all this wet weather has came

Looked at mine this morning, water has been getting to the pins in the plug for the front left abs sensor, green corrosion, got a repair kit coming from TPS for £4 get the plug pins and harness, has they where coroded they where just breaking when I was trying to get them out genes ordered a repair kit

40 miles today and no issues, traction control is working, can't tell if ABS is working or not but the brakes were normal. It's as though the battery connection was lost, it's 6 years old so maybe due replacement?

Update, scanned and got the following fault codes

00185: Control circuit; Relay for supply voltage terminal 15
01135: Interior monitoring sensors (common code on all VAG I think)

(plus two codes related to the passenger door lock which I know about but need to get round to fixing)

Battery is low on charge (12.1 V) even after 40 miles again today, green light is no longer illuminated. Going to replace battery.

This is good that it isn't anything to expensive, I'm waiting on Bluetooth obd turning up then I'll get mine scanned.

Obd Bluetooth adaptor turned up this morning, just scanned my car now. This is what the scan found.

ABS
02214 tyre pressure warning

Central Electronic
01135 interior monitoring sensors

Rear Left Door
00930 locking module for central locking, rear left (F222)
01554 motors for central locking doors rear, LOCK

Rear Right Door
00099 engine for central locking, back-right. save (v164)
00931 locking module for central locking, rear right (F223)
01554 motors for central locking doors rear, LOCK

So at a guess the ESP Fault flashed up to do with the tyre pressure warning, which the light was on a few days before while I was waiting for a new 12v tyre pump being delivered. I only seen the ESP fault flash up once.
And also looks like I need new rear door locks even they both work fine as far as I'm aware, I've reset the fault codes and see if the are logged again before I replace the locks.
