Hey guys and gals! :)

How's everyone doing this lovely day haha? :D

Right, I know I have a lot to do with my little beauty, but I need to set some priorities for my "bigger" mods, I can't seem to decide what would be the better option for me to do so I thought I'd let you guys and gals decide what would be the better option for me to save towards doing first! :)

I can't decide on whether to have the exhaust system done first before a custom stage 1 remap or whether to have a custom stage 1 remap done before having the exhaust system done.

I'm set on going to Bill at Badger5 for my remap, though I've been suggested to go to BCS (courtesy of KebabWarrior81) for my exhaust system! :D

Anyway, on to the poll, hopefully you can post which you'd suggest to have done first and why! :)

Thanks in advance! :D

First has to be exhaust otherwise your custom map wouldn't be custom if you fitted exhaust after mapping, it would need tweaking again to run at optimum

+1, if you're going for a full turbo back system, then it would make sense to get that first and let bill map it with that on it, or like bouncerbeater says it will need the map tweaking afterwards

Thanks guys!

I guess it's pretty much settled haha! I wasn't sure myself as you can tell by my original post :D

I'm not sure what kind of exhaust the TDi will entail as I know petrol cars are spoken of as "turbo cat back", though all I know with a TDi like mine is that they don't have cats? I've heard of the term mufflerectomy but I don't think that is what a full system is haha!

I will speak to BCS and find out what might be my best option concerning exhaust system, a full turbo back system is from the turbo all the way to the end, are there any legalities I have to adhere to when having one done for road use? Or will the fitters make them legal anyway?

I'm personally thinking of a resonated system but not sure what kind of sounds I'll hear from the exhaust, I guess I will find out when I speak to BCS?

On a side note, will have to find a decent Cupra R rear bumper or at least be on the lookout so I have one ready for what I get the exhaust system done as I would rather not go discrete exhaust and having the standard rear bumper it would have to be discrete! :D

Much !

I have a very tidy spare LCR rear bumper when you're ready. Not familiar with the tdi but I thought they still had some kind of cat but hey, what do I know. I'll stick to petrol.

Cheers man, made me no work haha! How much would you like for it? Send me a text later as I'll be off to bed in a sec just got in from work haha! :D

Will be sweet to come see you again haha, been forever and a day! :O

I'm in the same boat, I've picked up on a lot of things but still don't know very much of anything compared to the likes of most car-minded and mechanical minded people on here!

Diesel MOT's don't test the cats efficiency like they do on petrol cars, they only test for soot particles, diesels come out the factory with a cat fitted, but revving the cat makes no difference to the current emmisions test, but they have now brought a new part in that states it needs to be fitted so some testers if really pedantic could fail you for not running a cat, but I've heard of a lot of people getting MOT's with a decat and it not being a problem.

Mufflerectomy is removing one or all of the boxes in the system, it usually refers to removing the rear silencer due to how restrictive it is in its design, due to the lower temperature of combustion in a diesel and the turbo, most cars can get away with a straight through pipe from turbo back without it being deafening, it will be much louder than a standard system but it won't make your ears bleed like it would on a petrol
