facelift radio

So I've bought a radio off of ebay from a facelift seat Leon.

My Leon is pre face lift

Anyway people have made the change in the past no problem but my radio isn't working. the thing powers up, the first thing you see are that the temperature shows up. Then when I try and switch it on nothing happens.

When I turn the lights on the car the lights illuminate on the stereo but when I turn it on nothing happens.

Is it a dud radio or is it a case of maybe swapping wires around like I had to on my aftermarket headunit???

the wires the connect to the radio from the car, are these in different places between the face lift stereo and pre face lift stereo.

looking at the back of the stereo at were the prongs are and the diagram on the top of the stereo. it looks like on the top of the face lift stereo it has two main power connections.

when on the pre face lift stereo it only has one

this is the pre face lift connections and as you can see it has one power which i think is the ub+ and a earth with is the symbol top right of it

this is the facelift stereo i bought. it still has the ub+ and the earth but it has a extra + above the ub+. is this the reason it doesnt power up

Hi Andy

I dont know the answer i'm afraid but would also be keen to find out as I may go down this route to replace mine - following the 'turning itself on' problem :(

Hopefully someone will come along with the answer.

As a wild guess, is it that it needs a permanent live to one of the live connections ?
The Philips CED 1800BT is still on Ebay
