Had my leon tdi fr scanned today as the engine management light came on and coil light started flashing followed by the traction control light coming on.
Its become hard to start and sometimes stalls (when stationary and driving).
The fault codes say air flow meter, cam position sensor and engine speed sensor.
Is it likely that these parts have all gone at the same time or am I looking at a wiring fault somewhere?
Anyone experience anything like this before?

The MAF is a fairly common fault and I had a cam position sensor go a few months back, the engine speed sensor is a crank shaft position sensor.

The crank shaft position sensor will cause the car to be hard to start and may make the car stall. I would change that firrst and clear the faults (If you don't have a code reader, get one! £30 on ebay or less if you use torque + odb2 dongle) and you might find the new crankshaft position sensor stops the error codes for the camshaft position sensor and even the maf error code.

Found the code reader, going to order one today.
Car starts first time when the engine is cold but takes a couple of trys when the engine is hot.

Ok, scanner came today. Scanned it and got the following:
19463 - camshaft position sensor
16706 - ignition/distributor - engine speed input circuit - no signal
17058 - cylinder 4 glow plug
16485 - mass air flow sensor
00532 - transmission control module relay supply voltage (b+) malfunction low battery or bad ground

Cleared and scanned again this morning.
Only 3 codes remain:
17058 - cylinder 4 glow plug
16485 - mass air flow sensor
16725 - camshaft position sensor (this was a different code for this sensor than previously displayed)

Next time search for yourself ;) Type: "error code" vcds in google and check the rosstech site.

17058/P0674/001652 - Cylinder 4 Glow Plug Circuit (Q13): Electrical Fault

Possible Symptoms
No Pre-Glow Period
Poor Cold Starting

Possible Causes
Glow Plug Wiring faulty
Glow Plug faulty

Possible Solutions
Check Glow Plug Wiring
Check Glow Plug

Special Notes
See TDIClub Glow Plug 101

16485/P0101/000257 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70): Implausible Signal

Possible Symptoms
Loss of Power
Erratic Idle

Possible Causes
Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70) faulty
Air Leak(s) after Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)
Excessive restrictions in the Intake/Exhaust System
Dirty air filter, clogged snow screen, clogged CAT
Ground Spots corroded or Paint Residue
Wiring and/or Connections from/to Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70) faulty

Possible Solutions
Check Intake Air Filter
Check Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)
Check Ground Spots
Check Wiring and/or Connections from/to Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)

Special Notes
In MY 1995-2002 (?) in Europe at VW-diesel-cars G70 had the bad reputation of slowly losing his performance, causing loss of power. It's not a matter of defective or breaking down, but it is filthy / dirty (not easy to clean). You can check functionality by making a log in [01-engine], [meas.blocks-08], group 003 (3e gear, full throttle, from 1700-4000rpm)
It is not uncommon for a TDI to set Implausible Signal Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70) faults when the engine performance is reduced due to a mechanical problem. These mechanical problems may include, but are not limited to:
Faulty electric fuel pump or Restricted fuel filter. See the Fuel Pump Basic Settings for PD, PPD, and CR TDI Engines page for Basic Settings tips after replacement.
Excessive restrictions in the intake/exhaust system
Internal camshaft/valve/lifter problems

16725/P0341/000833 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40): Implausible Signal

Possible Symptoms
Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) active

Possible Causes
Wiring from/to Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) faulty
Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) faulty
Timing misaligned

Possible Solutions
Check Wiring from/to Camshaft Position Sensor (G40)
Check Camshaft Position Sensor (G40)
Check Timing

Glow plugs were £44+ postage for the set from Dave at Sere motors. Changing them is quite easy, get the engine stocking hot before trying to remove them to avoid snapping. Guide is on here somewhere

I got a camshaft position sensor from eurocarparts for £49, would have got the original part but don't have a local seat parts. This is a pretty straight forward job as well, watch the video on youtube to see how it is done, jam a rag underneath in case you drop the retaining bolt.

MAF I haven't touched but I think its very easy to replace.

Got a set of plugs at home from David (had them for a few months now, just never got round to putting them in)
Car is going in next week for a cambelt and waterpump change so will get the mechanical to have a look at the other items.
He was reluctant to start changing sensors as he had an Ibiza in with the same problems, they changed all the sensors and the faults still came up.
He put it down to broken wires and had found 2 while I was waiting.

Anyone got a picture of where the cam position sensor is on this car?
Also, how difficult is it to change and are any special tools needed?

Cant get any volume with this at work.
Is it just a matter of taking one off and replacing it or do they need to be re-programmed?
