Hey guys,

Finally after so long I finally purchased a Leon cupra r 225. Travelled about 450miles round trip which I was surprised how well the car performed on the way back in terms of petrol.

Anyway,

Since having the car for 3 days there are problems with the car, little I hope as I'm not that handy when it comes to mechanics.

Problem 1: i thought the back washer jet strength was rubbish as it hardly come out but since having used this on the way home, I have since got a boot light on when it is shut fine. When I turn on my lights the boot light turns off? I know I haven't looked but do you think that I could have a leaking back washer, which may have affected my boot sensor or has somebody had the same problem?

Problem 2: the car when turning makes a grinding noise and can only be described as a clunk. When trying to pack in a parking bay or taking a tighter turn (at slow speed) the noise happens. Would you suspect cv joint or stone guards catching?

I know it's really peeing in the wind with what it could be, but was just wondering if anybody had any of the same issues so I'm on the right track.

Went to the stealers to ask but they wanted £75 per hour to check. I know I could find a quality garage which surely charge alot less then that.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mine is currently in the garage because i have the same as issue as you describe in problem 2. They think its the spring but i am less sure. The clunk occurs only at low speed and the sterring doesnt have to be on full lock. Will let you know what they say the problem is.

are your cars lowered?? drive shaft on ARB is a possibility........... upgrade everything, then you dont have issues ;) hahaha!

Sorry I cant be of use, welcome to the cupra club, and im sure someone will know exactly what you need to know!

:) but welcome to the VAG revolution!

If you get someone to watch the spring at each side as you turn the steering lock to lock, they should see the spring tension up then ping! as it slips round. That's one way of checking for a broken spring anyway.

Will try that thanks. Yeh if you could keep us updated with any news it's all appreciated. No the car is totally standard aswell so it's on standard springs.

with regards to your washer jet problem, i had the same thing with my leon. the pressure was down compared to what it should have been. i took all the boot lining out and found it was leaking into the boot.

i can only assume that the washer liquid froze when we had all the cold weather and split the pipe. new bit of pipe and a connector soon solved the problem.

hope this helps

RE:Clunk

Hi there,

as t oyour prob number 2- sounds like your ARB droplinks- to identify this you could disconnect both sides and road test under the same environment to see if the clunk has disappeared.

hope this helps
