Foam cleaner newbie

Hi guys I really would like to try a foam cleaner like snow foam or similar but do you have to buy a pressure washer and a special gun for this? Don't understand how it works?
Having the car detailed hopefully next month so want to keep it looking good so trying to make a list of all the new things I need.

You really need a pressure washer and snow foam lance for the real snow foam effect. A lance and 5ltrs of foam solution will set you back £50 odd, and a pressure washer could be any amount you choose to spend. All you need to do is buy a pressure washer with a lance attachment that will fit the adaptors that the lance can be fitted with. This limits you to the more popular brand makes such as Karcher and Lavor for example.

Hmm okay thanks Viking thought that was the case rule that out for a while then! We do have a pressure washer but it's my dads and he wouldn't want me using it all the time. Think I will buy all the other products I need first then maybe come back to this. Need to find a good shampoo now Turtle wax was one is okay but not that great. Thanks again

The other way to go (although not as good in my view) would be to buy a Gilmour Foamaster attachment which goes on the end of a hosepipe and does a similar sort of thing to the foam lance. Regardless of the advertising, they don't produce the sort of foam that a proper lance does, and the cost is way up there in the region of a proper lance anyway. Better buying a cheap pressure washer and a proper lance.

Yeh you are right. Just realised my dad had or maybe still has 2 pressure washers one that looks more like a stationary engine and an older one. Will talk to him later and see. The problem with all these products is there are so many and so many places to buy from gets overwhelming!

Well i have just spent £40 at cleanyourcar not got any wax or foam yet just got some more bits to keep me going until the car is detailed then will get whichever wax is used on my car then to top it up and then think about the foam again when I have some money again!
