To cut a long story short my car has recently decided it wants to keep going into limp mode. I've had the car scanned and the fault said something along the lines of "intermittent fault in the EGR circuit" I'm not sure of the actual wording or fault code as the garage forgot to take a note of this before clearing the codes.
It looks like I have some issue with the EGR valve. I have someone who has said they can remap the car and delete the EGR valve from the system so I'll have more power and no more EGR issues :funk:.
So my question is does anybody know if you can get an EGR blanking kit for the CFHD engine? Or will it be ok to just delete the valve from the system?

has the person claiming to remap and remove the EGR done this on a CR engine before?

From what I've seen the EGR on the CR engines is a bit of a nightmare if it goes wrong compared to the earlier PD engines. Access and replacement is a 4-5 hour job.

I'm not sure if they have done this before on the CR engine. From what he was saying it sounds like he's just planning to delete the programming in the ECU for the EGR valve and leave the valve in situ. This to me doesn't sound like a great idea. Surely the valve will need blanking off before deleting the software.

That looks like a complete pain in the rear from that link. It looks as though the best solution is to get it sorted at the dealers, although this looks like it could prove to be expensive. The most annoying thing is the car really isn't that old, has only covered around 30k miles, is only ever fed Shell diesel and mainly used on the dual carriageway to get to work which is a 20 mile trip each way. Perhaps it's time to look into getting a different car after this is sorted, which is a shame because I really liked the car before this problem started and had no plans to change for some time.
