Just bought a Triple R Composites splitter and going to fit this weekend (weather permitting). The splitter doesn't come with fitting instructions, nor can I find anything model specific on the website.

Obviously it looks pretty standard stuff, comes with predrilled holes and bolts rather than self tappers (6?) but I'm just wondering how much of a pain it is to gain access to the inside of the bottom of the bumper to fit the nuts on the end of the bolts after lining up and drilling and also do the parts of the arch liners which meet the bumper (and go down an inch or two lower) need to come off or be shaved down or will the splitter sit flush against them?

I ended up taking my front bumper off, hiring a couple of friends to help hold it in place whilst we attached the splitter. Probably made more work of it that we needed to, but at least we knew it was flush and straight. I didn’t know what I would hit if we just started drilling up into the bumper so that’s why we took it off.

I know people who have fitted it without taking it off and have done it in a quarter of the time it took us. A ramp would certainly help!

Can you take some pics of the fitting as i'm looking to fit 1 to my FR - didn't realise it uses bolts+nuts instead of self tappers :(

Cheers

I checked the manufacturer website and the Maxton link above and decided to just have a crack lining it up best I could whilst on axle stands. I moved it around and eyed it up and to be honest whilst it may not be 100% perfect it only really seems to sit right without gaps in one place anyway so when I was happy with it I clamped it into place and pressed on.

Unfortunately I couldn't really manage pics of fitting as I was doing it by myself. Access is pretty tight especially at the corners of the bumper as the fog light surrounds are there, but it is do able.

I basically removed about 15 screws from the plastic underbody and some from the bottom of the arch liners. There's a small thin section of the tray which is secured by about 5 of those screws and can be clipped off once you also take a couple of screws which secure the bumper to the underbody of the car. Once that is off you basically have just enough to prise your hand into the bumper to get a washer and a nut on the end of the bolts (Once drilled of course). Then all you have to do is get a 10mm spanner in which was easier than getting my hand in and hold they whilst you tighten with an Allen key from outside.

Think it took me just short of two hours from start to finish and that includes jacking up the car, placing axle stands a d a bit of deliberation about lining it up. They key to it is mainly getting good access and it really should be two people.

I did similar, lined it up by eye then used a self tapper with big washer to fix in the front centre, re-measure check then drilled a couple of holes at a time and worked my way around. The end ones were most tricky and I drilled 2 new holes in the splitter just about an inch further forward to make it easier to get at the nut on the inside.
