right so i have this problem. my cars blown a fuse which has melted.. also melted ol the one underneath.. one of the fuse legs is still stuck in one of the sockets.. scorched and discoloured other fuses and the fusebox around it and the space fir the fuse is now a mishaped hole. when i took the fuse panel out to look at the back its also bkistered its insulation from the wire and come away seperately near the brass crimp.. sorry if i havent explainex this very well but what woukd be the best way to go about repairing this . as if i have to take each wire out and relocate in a new fusepanel will take forever and ive also got the problem of the damaged wire.

any help greatly appreciated.

oh sh@t thats not good, the fuse is there to stop that happening to the wire. so may also have to look into what caused the insulation to melt. maybe wrong fuse has been put in ie wrong amperage. repairing the insulation you could remove from panel and slide a small piece of heat shrink over it. with reqards to the actual panel i wouldnt even like to think of stripping that lot down and im a sparky lol. but i cant see another way if its that badly burnt somethings got to be done.

what does that fuse do?

does look a bit of a bum. i would de-solder that wire and try and force the melted bit off of the otherside. if not try to remove the little block and tidy it up best you can before soldering / bodging it back into place.

if not you can always "relocate" it, just make a mock up fuse (solder onto wire)

yeah its a right state and half of the fuse is still stuck in it  . its blown twice lately and as far as i know it had the right ampage fuse init 10 amp? . and lol a electrician taking a deep breath and saying i wouldnt fancy that job is not giving me a lot of confidence haha.. its the electric window .. interior light and other things fuse.. i think im going to have to try and bodge a fuse on it tonight as temporary measure. Im suprised it didnt set a light haha. damn could of got a nice payout!

Well I would in the summer. Sod doing it in this weather, mate if you can play with wires and take it slowely should be ok. Think you might be able to do as James D1 said replace the block that the fuses push through, and just sit there take a wire out at a time. Maybe try a breakers yard for an old fuse box save you a few £££'s

Check exactly what that fuse feeds. If it feeds the cigarette lighter/power socket, check the socket and anything you plug into it. I once had a problem where the tip of a power plug had come off and was in the bottom of the socket, shorting it out.

Cut the melted wires off from the rear of the fuse board, (fit new crimps from breakers yard with solder), fit newly crimped wires into a spare fuse slot and fit a new fuse.

OR

Cut the melted wires from the rear of the fuse board, fit an aftermarket fuse holder and attach it somewhere at the rear of the fuse board.
