Fuse info needed please!!

Ok so im good with hands on stuff....but rubbish with electrics, I just wondered how you can tell if a fuse is dead, how you know what amp fuse to use and also the fuse layout for an LCR.

Popped the panel off today to have a nosy and noticed a few missing...slightly worried as i dont know what they are for but my car drives fine and lights, radio etc all work fine. Any help would be cool. Number 8 and 12 are ones missing I can remember off the top of my head :S

On the panel you remove there is a diagram that tells you what fuses do what.
To see if one is blown remove it and see if the wire as snapped, might be able to do it whilst it is in-situ.

I read the diagram, just shows a book with an exclamaition mark...hence why im a bit worried. Got a feeling whoever had the car before me was a bit of a bodger :/ Any way i can find out exactly that they are for somewhere?!

hey Lee im still stuck on the cd player, iv narrowed it down to 2 wires one locks the door when i turn on the ignition the other does sweet FA for the signal, think im going to give up lol

The car didn't come with an owners manual, bought it from a mate cheapish so it's not perfect :/

8 is telephony (5A), 12 diagnostic voltage i.e. the power supply to the VAG-com port. 7.5A. Unless you have a SEAT mobile phone kit installed you won't have 8. But you should have 12.

Whaaat, thats rediculous, i had VAG tacho plugged into the obd port the other day...and my mates code reader?! they worked fine?! I HATE ELECTRICS WITH A PASSION :'(

Looking at my fuse panel, I have no fuses in holders
8 - Telephone
17 - Free
27 - Rear window wiper
28 - Fuel pump
30 - Sliding Roof
31 - Automatic gearbox
33 - Headlight washers
44 - Heated seat

All of the above are systems I don't have on the car (diesel Toledo SE, manual gearbox)

Thats slightly less worrying then, im guessing i dont have fuses in some of mone for the same reasons....i just saw a load missing and dropped my load thinking my car had been bodged!! hah
