The other half has had her Christmas pressie, a brand new Ibiza Cupra for almost 3 months now.

She loves it apart from one rather annoying issue - The Bluetooth hands free phone.

When she picks up an incoming call it takes about a second to connect and you know it has thanks to an ear splitting bassy buzz that distorts the car speaker for about a second before she can hear the other party.

Once the call is connected, the person calling her can hear their own voice echoing back down the line, albeit faintly.

The biggest problem though is that one simply can't hear what she's saying when the car is moving at any more than about 30mph.

Be interested to hear from others having this problem - It could be that it's a problem with the system in her car, or it could be caused by road noise specifically in the Cupra due to tyres and suspension etc.

One thing's for certain - It's not fit for purpose at the moment. The point of a bluetooth phone is to be able to make/receive calls when the car is moving. If one can't hear what is being said, and the the voice command system can't understand the driver's instructions, what's the point?

I had thought perhaps the microphone had been poorly placed during manufacture....Until the local Seat dealer told me that actually the microphone and all of the gubbins for the phone are built into the Garmin system on the dashboard. That's quite some distance from the driver.
Even he admitted they're not the best.

Hopefully they might be able to find and solve the issue whilst it's with them. They're also looking into the DSG pulling off from a start with a jolt, and jerking from forward to reverse gears and vice-versa, a diesely rattle when the car's cold which doesn't disappear until the car's properly warm (and sometimes not even then) and condensation in the headlights.

Very helpful and friendly dealer which is great, but all the above plus a DSG box that seems to think it's a fruit machine, I'm starting to wish I'd dug a little deeper and got her the Leon SC FR 180 DSG instead. Never mind....the Leon 280's nearly out and I "promised" apparently!

I've had no problem with hands free on my Garmin since I picked up my FR last week, works great and people can hear me clearly no matter what speed I'm travelling at. The dealer should be able to try another SPS unit to eliminate that as the problem, guess from that point onwards you gave to start looking at the connection from the Garmin to the car, and after that it'd have to be the phone itself, although you can eliminate that yourself by trying another phone if you haven't done so already.

As for the other issues, sounds like you've got a bit of a duff car there! Not nice to hear, but happens occasionally unfortunately!

The stand's locked into the dash and the unit properly secured to the stand so should all be OK there.

Hopefully a new unit will solve the issue then from what Enog was saying about the call quality in the FR.

We each have an iPhone 5 (bought 6 months apart) and the same problems occur with each phone so don't think the phone's to blame.

As for the other issues with the car, just one of those things I suppose. Quite happy to accept that something made up of millions of components there will be one or two issues.

The dealer's being great, which is a real help.

In my experience, Problems like this are usually phone based rather than car based.

For example my phone will not transfer my phonebook, but it will play music and receive texts and calls without a problem.

What Phone are you using?
