hi my wife wants a german shepherd does anyone on here have one , and will it fit in your seat leon or has the leon got to go ?? thanks

Don't get a german shepherd.... problem solved. Tell her to get a chihuahua

But to answer sensibly...MAYBE with the shelf out, but i wouldn't be the most comfy ride and there would be plenty of face-plant marks of a german shep on your rear window

Need an estate or similar really.... but how often would you need to take the dog somewhere in the car?

Hey dude, I have a German Shepherd and to be honest the boot of the Leon is just too small for him. He's not even 1 yet and is already 46kgs so it's a good job he fits into my wifes car or I'd have to get rid (of the car!)

Maybe buy a little £50 piece of crap run-around with a decent boot for the occasional trip to the vets etc or as stated, a slightly smaller breed!? ;)

Yeh be a man and get her a chihuahua!! I've got 2 pups for sale and they will defiantly fit in your boot hahaha

I don't have a Leon but I have a GSD and I bought an A4 estate for it to fit in. At 17 weeks, he already takes up the full boot in that.

For people saying don't take him in the car, mine is at dog training once a week (10 miles away) and down the beach most weekend. When they're small, they can't walk huge distances so being able to get it in the car is very nexessary

Thanks for the replies , I think I will get a cheap estate , I just don't want my misus using my range rover sport and beating the wheels to death lol

I you want a (really) good car with lots of space, excellent reliability and a great ride....Mazda 5.
Only 2 inches longer than a Leon, but still a 7 seater.
We've had an 06 Mazda 5 TS2 for ages now and it's epic.
I wouldn't even worry about getting an old one like a 06. They're tanks.

Jack Russels do rule for getting them in the car, but living with them is a whole other discussion lol...

I have a German Shepherd cross Rottweiler and she fits in the boot, but I think the seats do sit slightly too far back for them to have a long journey. I put the rear seats down and she tends to sit on the back of them and hang her head out of the window :)
