getting worried

hi im new here and this my first new post will be a rambling rant so appologies in advance .

i have ordered a leon sport tdi from my local dealer who i have only heard good things about but things are going less than smooth for me and i don't even take delivery untill the end of march.

heres the story a price was agreed and a part ex price was agreed and put in writing i was to hand over my car a 11 month old bmw mini on the 15th of feb and the dealer would loan me a car untill the new one arrived at the end of march.
he obviousley wants my car sold before the 06 plates come out so he gets a better proffit.

so i went to the dealer to do the swap as arranged to be told he had forgot all about me coming and the car wasn't ready could i collect it tommorow and i would be called if any problems arrose.

tommorow came no call so i rang to be told he wasn't there and he had left no instructions could i leave it till tomorrow and all would be sorted .
i was also promised i would be called at 9am the following morning.

no call came so i rang to be told he was with a customer but would call straight back 5 hours later no return call so i rang again and was again told he was with a customer and i would be called straight away.

no call came again so after work i went to dealer where he said sorry for not calling but he had been with a customer all day the car wasn't there could i collect it on monday garuanteed.

now whats upsetting me is it was his idea to take my car 6 weeks early and it was his idea to lend me a car now he seams to be trying to riggle out of the deal.

i was torn between buying the leon or a golf mainly because of knowing nothing about seat other than barlow moters who were so bad we refused to buy a car from them a few years ago.

the nearest alternative dealer is 60 miles away so i dont really want a 120 mile trip for servicing etc.

i didnt srew him down on price i could save around £1000 if i used www.drivethedeal.co.uk
i got a fair exchange price and the car for £16000 including heated seats metalic paint and mp3.

the dealer is in a tiny village near me in north devon which only really has any life in summer he must relly on local trade and cant possibly have so many customers he can risk upsetting them.

every time i have been to the dealer i have been the only customer there.

if i dont get the curtesy car on monday as promised i am seriously thinking of cancelling the order and demanding my deposit back in which case i will probably buy a golf

am i being unreasonable? do you think i should ask for some freebies?

thanks for reading rant over and im practicing my calming breathing lol

buy the car from wherever you want, but you don't need to take it back to the showroom of source for servicing....

I hope this isnt Croyde motors mate that you are dealing with mate since they are complete :w4nk: . I tried to deal with them on a PD 130 Ibiza in 2004 and a PD Cupra in 2005 and both times all they did was mess me around and tell me a load of crap so i went else where.

If it was me i'd have cancelled by now mate.

If the courtesy vehicle is not there by the time they say this time, i would tell them to shove it.

You are the buyer hence you should have control.

Take your money elsewhere if they keep on messin you about.

yea since he had told you that you would get it on monday as he promised for the 3rd or 4th time id just cancel the order, maybe it'll make him realise they just cant keep messing customers about! Afterall its your hard earned cash and if your not happy with them dont bother with them. Get your deposit and go somewhere else is what i'd say.

First thing i'd do is contact the branch manager / regional manager (if they are part of a group) and complain like hell at them.

Tell the manager what you want and when you want it by, and if they cannot help tell them where to stick their order.

Then write a really nasty letter to their group director and sit back while mr crap salesman and usless regional manager get their asses whooped.

Oh .. and if you want to top if of after that, contact Seat UK direct, and complain about there dealership ...

(am i just evil or what???)

its a family run dealer that prides itself in customer service:lol: ill give em till wednesday if im let down again i will cancel trouble is if i do cancel i probabley wont buy a seat as my next nearest dealer is in exeter 60 miles away.
what is realy annoying me is i never asked for a courtesy car it was his suggestion so he could get my car earlier

if i sold my car privatley and bought from drivethedeal or broadspeed etc i would probably save myself £1500-£2000 i just didnt want the hassle of advertising my car and arranging delivery for the new one this dealer is highly reccomended.

Tell the dealer to stick his "courtesy" car, you'll stick with yours until your new one turns up, then he can have it then.

Why go through the hassle, he's messed you around - keep hold of your car until your new one turns up.

They might be a family run dealer but they are CRAP and dont take any shite from them! You are the customer therefore you are in charge not them and who ever "highly reccomended" them to you i wouldnt take any notice off any more. I have met several seat owners around our area and very few have even got a minor good word to say about them. The only reason they are still in business is because people like yourself dont want to go to Exter or better still county garage in Teignmouth http://dealer.seat.co.uk/dealers/home.aspx?id=47.6TZ where i ended up buying both my last two cars since they matched the internet priceses that i showed them, plus the loverly Emma works on customer services  . With no hold ups it would only take about an hour to get from Barnstable to Teignmouth so is it really worth having coryde motors take the piss out of you?

I'm surprised to hear this. Croyde Motors was one of the very first SEAT dealers after the VW takeover (possibly before but that's when my interest in SEAT started). They won loads of awards from SEAT and as you say are/were a family run garage. As such I wouldn't expect huge discounts etc from them but I would expect a very good level of customer care at the very least.

I think my patience would have gone by now too.

Don't expect too much from VW dealers either though! Having said that, although Silver Street seem rather pricey they should look after you okay, one hopes.
