I think if I remember correctly you only get them as standard with the manual TSI and Ecomotive as they have start/stop but im not 100% sure.

I just bought the 1.2 TSI Stylance and had to purchase it as an extra. It cost me 373 Eur.

Edit: From the catalogue, it only comes as a standard in the FR and Cupra versions.

I'm pretty sure that Hill Hold Control, Emergency Brake Assist, Tyre Pressure Monitoring and XDS (electronic diff lock, fitted where engine power >= 100PS) are all components of the ESP system. No ESP, no extras.

If yours is a 1.2TSI manual then it should have ESP (∴ HHC + EBA + TPM) & XDS (105PS) as standard (in the UK, anyway!) It's an optional extra on the DSG version as it does not have Start/Stop.

The brochure contains a pretty good description of how the Hill Hold function works if you're still not sure.

I think you have to hold the button down for a bit to stop you from pressing it by accident

When ESP is active (default), no light shows up on the dash (unless it intervenes at any point.) Holding the ESP button down for a couple of seconds will disable ESP and result in a blinking yellow light on the cluster. I think a subsequent quick press will turn it back on. Best to leave it on for normal driving conditions!

I don't plan on turning it off, just an extra feature to drive up the selling price on resale. Given that it's front wheel drive I can't see ESP making a big difference but the xds would be great.

Pressing the button should disable the traction control part of the package but will leave everything else working. You wouldn't normally want to disable traction control since it's intended to cut engine power in order to eliminate wheel spin when accelerating and probably reduce 'torque steer'. AFAIK you'd only need to disable it when driving on snow.

This should all be in the handbook. I don't have my car yet so don't have a handbook but gleaned all this from the Skoda Fabia handbook which can be downloaded.

BTW we are confusing ourselves because whether or not start-stop and ESP is included depends on the country where the car is bought.

Perhaps if people say where they live things might get clearer .....
