head gasket swap.

if my head gasket went, to fix it is it just a case of swapping the gaskets for new ones or is there another procedure that needs doing.. ie: cleaning inside the engine to get the water out or whatever else. replacing parts?

You've seen where the head gasket is right?

you have to take your cylinder head off, so you'll at least need new long bolts for that, and may as well do the cambelt while that's off

but theres no internal flushing or anything needing doing..
im looking at another car to get but need to do a bit of work on it, and ive only ever paid someone to do my gasket but to save some dollar thought idd give it a whirl myself.

wouldnt think that you need new bolts. youll probably have to skim the head incase the head has warped from the heat, apart from that not much else.

you should replace headbolts each time you undo them since they're stretch bolts

Aye, always replace the stretch bolts they help keep the head bolted on at an even pressure.
