Hi all,

Was driving my 2004 tdi cupra seat leon yesterday and the heater plug flashing light started up.

No loss on power/acceleration and because it's warm lately I haven't noticed that it's hard to start or smoky.

The battery isn't 100% but what i'd like to know is the following before I bring her to the garage and vag com her:

- could it simply be that one of the plugs is going/gone?

- could it be the accelerator pedal sensor (even though she responds grand until now)

Any help would be great, as the lads in the garage aren't busy and I suspect they'll want to milk me by taking me on the long way around to fixing it.

Is it hard to clean the accelerator sensor and could anyone tell how to do this, as i'd like to do it anyway.

I suppose I could buy a new plug and try replacing it in each plug hole to see if this solves the prob.

What ye think?

Thanks a mill in advance!

that light will also flash if there is a fault with the crank position sensor or a problem with key programming.

brake light switch is most common but your best off reading the fault codes for a definitive answer.

Flashing again

It stopped after 3 days and it's back again flashing.

I did check the plugs for too much resistence but they were fine.

How do you get at the brake light switch. It aint in the fuse compartment anyway I don't think.

Is it down at the pedals?

Ok got someone to check brake lights as I pressed the brake pedal ...

Not working! I'm happy it's something as simple as this thought and there's a great guide on here that talks you through replacing the switch.

I was checking the resistence in the heater plugs to see if one was resisting too much (over time they will begin to resist elec more) but they seemed bang on.

This problem is something simillar to one I had in my old Leon

(just thought I'd put that in!! It was what started me liking these machines)

THe temperature sensor went in it and because of that the temp gauge wasn't working and I'd say the car was thinking the engine was cold all the time too as one connection runs from this sensor to the ECU.

This site is after saving me much money being able to sort stuff out with full picture guides.

Thanks to all who take the time to make these guides!

Cheers

Wouldn't start, now engine fault light flashing

Hello, I couldn't start my car this morning and had to roll it. Got it started it and noticed the coil light flashing. Hubby came out and started it first try. The brake lights were working perfectly so something else?

I just got my car back from the shop yesterday after having all three parts of the clutch replaced and two light bulbs (one was a rear brake light). Such a dream to drive yeserday and now I daren't go out in her. Could this fault be related to the work carried out? I really don't want to pay again for something that might be the garage's fault. I'm £513 in and flat broke!
