My heaters are only blowing luke warm air mainly more warth from windscreen heaters

I have done
Coolant change
Matrix reverse flush water ran clear
Themostat change
Head gasket checked which is fine
Can't find any air pockets

Can't seem to get any more heat,
The car is a seat leon mk1 1.6 16v

So I'm taking next option is taking dash out for matrixs change ?or any more ideas

The fuse is not blown and I was also lead to believe the fuse only controls the blowers not the heat

Sounds like you’ve already done the usual things to sort this. Are the pipes going to heater matrix getting hot? Is the water pump working correctly?

Diesel cars have a return to the top of the expansion tank, I’m guessing petrol cars are the same. There should be a steady flow of coolant at idle and an increase as the engine is revved. The pipe can be taken off and put in the top of the expansion tank to see the flow.

The water pump should be fine if the pipes going to the heater matrix are getting hot. A difference in the temperature of the pipes is normally a good sign that the heater matrix is doing its job of dissipating heat.

Is blower fan nice and ‘blowy’ if not then it may not be forcing enough air to the heater matrix to warm it.

There’ll be a control flap somewhere in the dash to stop the air going to the heater matrix, this may have got stuck.

You’ve flushed the heater matrix, but it still could be half blocked. The only way to really tell that would be taking it out which is a lot of work and personally I’d be looking at other options first.

Sorry I don’t, thankfully as yet haven’t had any problems with my heating - just the aircon!

You may get some luck with a Google search, most information on the MK4 Golf and Mk1 A3 will also be relevant to the Leon.

It’ll depend on if you have manual heating controls with a temperature dial or Climatronic with the digital display.

If you have the climatronic then VCDS should show fault codes for the various flap motors. If it's the one with the manual controls, then i'm pretty sure its a "dumb" system that doesn't throw codes and the flaps have physical linkages to the knob.

I'm going to try the reverse clean on the heater core this weekend again ?
Last time I did I never kept the hose in that long as ran clear ,

If you can find out the capacity of the heater matrix, it may say on the listing in car parts websites or you could trying a Google search.

Then plug the bottom hose connection and see how much water you can pour in, that may give an idea if it's clear.

Can't get my head around this ???
Both pipes to the heater matrixs are nice and warm left hand one being slightly warmer,no air locks in system ,heat coming from windscreen vent but not out of centre vents or p/d side ones, new thermostat fitted ,2 systems flushes and new coolant in both times ,fuses changed,
Could this be the temperature flaps ?

Yeah, if you have heat from the windscreen but not the vents then i'd definitely suspect the air direction flaps. Is it climatronic, or the manual version? I will look it up for you on elsawin.

I think it's probably just a matter of checking the 3 cables between the controls and the flaps are working. Not much on elsawin that seemed useful, apart from this maybe.

Cheers mate

I can't understand why I'm get a little bit of heat out of all vents?
Also noticed when I put the fan on full speed seems as if a motor behind the glove box makes the floor vibrate a little

Yeah, it's a strange one. If the windscreen one works a full heat then i can only think it's the air control flaps in some way. Maybe the flap is stuck 95% of the way towards the windscreen vents, but still allowing a tiny bit of air to the vents? I've got climatronic in mine so haven't got any hands on experience with the manual system.
