Hope you won't be unimpressed with the SEAT coming from Mercs. I have had SEAT/Cupra's since 1996 and they have got a lot better in quality and build, but I had Rovers b4 and they were mostly terrible.

Having few Mercs , every newer model I was buying was less reliable than its predecessor...The one I have now W212 has been problematic and costs of maintaining it after 6 years of ownership are huge as I don't use aftermarket parts.From my point of view modern Mercs or in fact all this so called 'premium brands" are not worth their money , all is left from being premium is a bonnet badge and huge bill in your pocket.
In regards to Seat I was impressed with build quality for the class of the vehicle, amount of space at the back and how nippy this little 1.4 engine is, I probably would have kept my W212 if ULEZ wasn't expanding to my work place from the other hand time to change my car was scheduled for next year
