Hi

was looking for some help ASAP. Got into my LC today. Turn the key and the dash lights flashed for about one second at which point I was waitng for it to roar to life, but nothing. It just powered off to dead.

All other electrics work OK radio, lights etc. Didn't even turn over. I'm thinking immobiliser problem. Can anyone offer any advice on what it could be. The car has never refused to start before and any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

does sound immobiliser related, can you hear the fuel pump clicking as you try to turn it over?

if your radio and lights are working its not your battery

There may not be enough power in the battery to power the starter motor.

So it could be the battery, starter motor or yes the immobiliser at fault.

Have you tried jump start?

Got Green Flag out. Turns out that one of the battery terminals and the terminal end at that lead was badly corroded and wasn't conducting properly (how the hell they missed this at a dealer service I'll never know - well I do as they never checked clearly - an absolute mess).

The guy cleaned it up best he could but the battery was on its way out by the looks of it too so I just went for a new one - £57 for a Varta battery. He had to put a nail between the terminal and terminal end on the lead to get the charge from the new battery to conduct properly so I could start it.

I need a new terminal end on the lead now as it's goosed. Anyone know how hard a job this is? Is it a case of cutting off the old one and solderding a new one on?

Cheers
