Hot engine start surge

In hot weather after a decent run, when you restart whilst engine still hot (16v) the engine surges up to 2.5k rpm then settles at idle. Air leak of some description somewhere?

ickle sensor on the side of air box ed(intake temp?!?!?)prone to wire damage, and causes similar symptons.

Sounds familiar. Mate's 16v did the same when he hadn't connected the sensor back properly after fitting induction kit.
