I want some more power out of my 1.6, without spendin too much.. Anyone got any ideas? Ss there any chipping you can do on them?
And wats the difference between the engine in the polo gti and the leon 1.6? cheers

Forget about chipping an N/A engine, its a waste of money.

A really noticeable increase of power will in any was cost a lot of money of a N/A engine...

Best option will maybe be, to sell the car and get one with stronger engine and/or with turbo in it...

Regards, Alex

I always had ITG panel filters on my RS Clios, dont know if they do them for a Seat though? Other things are a more free flowing exhaust, de-cat (but will fail MOT emissions if its just a de-cat pipe) and cams, although i personally would only bother with the de-cat and the panel filter as there only going to be minimal gains power wise but it should feel abit more 'pokey'

Not being funny, mate, but isn't your insurance high enough as it is for a new driver without starting doing performance mods??????????????????

Remember that ANY modification will have to be declared to the insurance otherwise your insurance could easily become null and void if you need a claim.

i got my rs sreies 1 at 20, but insured it on a classic car policy. save your money dude for a better car get all of your thrashing, crashing (and hopefully) shagging done in this one and get something with a bit more go in it in a couple of years.

Got my first decent powerfull car (leon cupra r 225) when i was 25 the magic age for cheaper insurance.

Always had cheap slow cars since i was 18. also got allot of no claims bonus so there are benefts from it.;)

Same here! LC not LCR but still!

By then I had 5 years no claims so insurance was peanuts (relatively) which means I can actually afford to run the thing!

I drove a 1.2 Punto for the last year mate, just got myself a MKI Leon Tdi and i'm still enjoying the performance boost from it.

Don't really intend on changing cars for at least another two years (all going well) and then I'll maybe look into a Cupra (depending on insurance and financial situation).

If you've just started driving, you'll be lucky to even get a quote on a performance car never mind afford it.

Thrash the 1.6 for a while mate

had a 1.6 until 24,

25 got the LC, insurance isnt an issue then,

all i'd do to the 1.6 is make it look the part, lcr kit /wheels/ lowered, dont bother with performance, it'll bite you back, make it look fast, if it looks like an lcr, then usually people thiink its an lcr

Sheep in wolves clothing :)

Maybe i should do that. What age were you when you first got a powerful car?

17....the extra you pay on insurance cancells out the amount you'd spend on making a sewing machine more powerfull :cartman:

However...being all sensible and grown up now I wish I'd have just bought a cheap run around for a couple of years then saved my money for a nice car when I was a bit older.

go faster stripes... adds about 10-20bhp....

but honestly if your gonna keep the car for the next couple years say.... just get a nice set of wheels and a nice drop...maybe an aftermarket exhaust to make it sound nice... going fast is only half the story... your car should look nice too
