How low to go on standard shocks?

Anyone know how low to go on standard shocks with lowering springs without being daft?
I'm gonna get my wheels refurbed in charcoal for a better look but I hate the huge gaps in the arches, Im on a budget and also don't want to cause any problems so does anyone have any advice from experience? The rear springs are fairly new and the arches look alot bigger than the fronts at the mo and looks stupid.

You can go as low as you want but the dampers wont work properly and the lower you go the worse the damping will be, even with a normal set of lowering springs 10-40mm all the suspension will be on the spring and the ride is crap the car just bounces on the springs and you loose nearly all the damping, imo save for matched dampers and springs, i have dropped mine by 40mm and personally i wouldn't go any lower if you want to use it as an every day car.

On an LCR I'd say stick with 20-30mm.

ive lowered mine 45mm at front on standard shocks i think i need shortened shocks does bounce a little into corners mines a 1.6 maybe some lc shocks might work better

Generally lowering suspension kits with have higher (stiffer) damping rates, as said above you can go low I fitted 40mm eibach springs to my golf and the ride was superb, but depends how good your shocks are, when you go low you want a stiffer setup as with less ground arch clearance you don't want it bouncing around like Lucy Pinder's jugs at a bouncy castle party...... If you get my drift!!!!

Remember that alot of springs also cover other models so unless they're specifically for the LCR you won't get the full stated drop.
