I just noticed that the Ibiza 1.4 NA petrol on 185/60-15 (I think) tyres scored highest among 15 superminis in the Swedish Elk/Moose test.

It went through at 75.5 km/h. Some others were Polo: 72 km/h, Fabia: 71 km/h, Fiesta: 70.5 km/h.

Having said that it didn't do too well overall; only 9th out of 15. Why that was isn't clear to me, perhaps one of the Swedes on here can tell us.

Think it came so poorly due to the cost of ownership scoring, and on fuel efficiency, had they tested the 1.2tsi ratehr than the outgoing 1.4 I suspect it would've done rather better.

I'm living in Sweden and Seat never get a top position, it's simply not as popular as in the uk, people here would get a skoda instead. Now having said that, part of the problem is pricing, while I got my 1,2 tsi on a god deal, the 1,2 tsi with ac ( style package) prices start at around £ 16k, the skoda is cheaper.
Seat doesn't have a good reputation here either, could be that some of the older models weren't the best winter cars and that the excessive use of salt on the roads has killed off many ibiza's while polos from the same year lives on.

Thanks for that.
Skoda is cheaper in the UK too but when I bought my 1.2 TSI SE the extra equipment on the SEAT made it worth the extra money; Skoda lacked ESP, stop-start system, cruise control etc.
