So I got the car about 3 weeks ago. the car was first registered in march 2013. I bought it from the SEAT dealer in Sidcup. I had the Ibiza MK4 before it that i had for 4 weeks have a cambelt replaced just as precaution as i bought that at 60,000 miles. The dealer said my MK5 wont need the cambelt replaced until 2 years time. is this correct?

my reg: LX13 JUU

thanks all

I seem to remember seeing that the belt change period was now 5 years or ??K miles, I know that I waited almost 5 years the first time for wife's old BBY engined Polo before getting the belt replaced. After that every 4 years though - one thing though, how long do you currently plan to keep that car, if getting the belt replaced at just over or on 4 years or ??K miles, then again after the same period/miles fits in with how long you plan to keep it, then why wait for the 5 years and spend the last year of each belt worrying?

The general service interval for cam/timing belt is 50,000 miles or 75,000km or 5 years I believe, best thing to do is check the owners manual or service manual as that should dictate the service schedule
