Individual drive mode

Hi there

Just a quick query regarding the individual driving mode. It seems as though it doesn't get set properly when the car is switched off and back on again.

By that I mean, it says it's in my individual mode but I can tell everything is in the default "normal". The main give away is the throttle response as I have that set to sport...

To get it to work, I have to set it to another mode (say sport) then back to individual. It'll then start to pick up my settings.

Anyone else noticed this or is it just mine?! If it matters, it's a 2014 1.4 TSI FR.

Is it DSG, if it is it might just be in the D instead of the S (but still in sport mode) as when you switch off it always starts in D to keep revs lower till warmed up. To change D to S just pull back on gear selector (the last postion toggles D to S and back) It is marked D/S and does this in my Cupra, if it's a manual then I don't know if this is normal.

Thanks for the replies.

It's a manual so no DSG to worry about here. To begin with, I just thought I'd got really used to the sport engine mode

I think you're right! I have my 2013 FR 150 on individual all the time (engine = sport, steering = normal, aircon = economy), and I remembered what you said this morning and switched to sport then back to individual towards the end of my journey. Sure enough the throttle response was sharper.

As a test I'll set the individual steering to sport/heavy, which will be the biggest give-away if individual isn't engaging. Just to make sure we're not going mad.

I'm having the same issue with my 1.4 FR. It's been back to the dealer twice, Seat Tech department thought they had cured it but didn't. I'm supposed to book it back in but if I'm honest I can't be bothered to let them have the car for another two to three days.

BTW if I re press the individual mode after restarting the car then uses "individual". Like you I have the engine mode set to Sport.

Interesting responses - it appears this is not an uncommon issue then.

I dare-say a software upgrade could fix this - it seems like on "boot" it isn't handling and setting the individual profile config. Sounds more like something that would happen on a phone than a car :p

I forgot to mention but when in Sport mode and the ignition is turned off then on the restart to all intents the car looks and feels like it is still in Sport (red door lights/heavier steering) with the exception of the engine response which has reverted to 'normal'. It's as though the car doesn't retain anything other than normal in the memory.
