S3 intercooler i was after got sold under my nose so on look out for another. Have found one from the golf vi r model, it has the same 265bhp as the s3 but has a part number 1K0 145 803 AK
This the the plastic version not aluminium and was replaced by the p revision from 2009 onwards. Its 40mm wide which is thicker than my standard cupra one. Has anyone fitted this or knows of its parameters as i dont want to replace something for the same. It should cook better as its about 8mm thicker than the cupra one.

Thanks but have one of those locally (based in cee) for similar money but the AK revision is avaliable to me for less than a hundred quid which is a big saving as i can change the plugs for winter and do an oil change with the difference.

It won't be as good. Look at any uprated intercooler - they all have large end tanks and are not made from plastic.

When I bought my 2010 Leon Cupra, I had te 265ps intercooler to fit as I also thought it would be as good. Seeing them both together will show why it won't be. I promptly sold it.

There are a few things that will help temperatures by way of an intercooler

1) End tank size design and material
2) Core size and thickness
3) Design
4) Obstructions in front like air con

Having used the S3 cooler with no air con, I'd honestly say that unless you plan to batter it on a track a lot , the alloy end s3 core will be perfect especially if you ditch the air con.

The thickness of the unit is the same as the alloy s3 one just that its made of plastic. In the US a couple of people fitted it but didnt return to the forum with any logs.

Correct. It's the same core I believe. The end tanks are not only plastic on the 265PS cooler they are smaller too.
