Intermittent Door Problem and Folding Mirror Problem

Hi,

I understand that the whole problem with passenger doors not unlocking with the fob is quite common. In my case it is the 2 rear doors, sometimes they work sometimes they don't! I have to open them from inside.

I also have another problem. When I fold my mirrors in, sometimes they don't open again! Or one will open while the other one stays closed. Does anyone else have this problem?

How much can I expect for a garage to rectify these problems?

I've noticed an issue with the folding mirrors, if its cold (the car is covered in frost/ice) then the mirror can keep on going so its pointing downwards!! But this stops once the car has warmed and I fold the mirrors back in then out again.

And might the door opening be caused by a setting in the MFD where pressing the fob only unlocks the drivers door? That's if you have that setting/option on yours

I couldn't fold it back out at all, even after 15 minutes of driving. Also, I'm not sure whether your referring to the actual glass? I'm talking about the whole unit if that makes sense?

As far as the door problem goes, I wasn't aware that there was an option in the MFD? I have a pre facelift so it's just the small MFD that doesn't do much so I'm unsure if I have this function? Either way, I haven't changed anything and some days the doors will open and other days they won't!

My whole wing mirror unit points downwards, it moves past where it should fold down to, but keeps going...

And maybe its worth a look, its in the settings somewhere (can't remember off the top of my head) and it gives an option for the fob to open all doors or the drivers door only. If its not that then I don't know, maybe one of the more experienced guys on here will have a definite answer!

Oh wow, I see what your saying! Seems odd!

Mine just don't move at all sometimes and I have to manually move it myself but I hate doing it because it clicks and I'm worried of breaking something.

And hopefully someone can come and advise me on how to find the setting!

Hmmm, was slightly worried the first time it did it but seeing as its so rare and sorts itself out quickly I've never bothered sorting a fix! And I didn't want to move it manually as I was worried I'd break something!

And in the MFD, if its there I think its in "Settings" then "Convenience"

I think I've got a different MFD, all I can do with mine as far as I'm aware is scroll through it with the up and down buttons on my stalk.

Ahh, definitely sounds like a different MFD to me, I've got the 4-way buttons on the steering wheel

What age Leon is yours then?

I've a 2012 FR, got it dirt cheap as it was an ex-demonstrator and so it had all the bells and whistles, 1-in-a-million find!

Yeah mines a 2006, that would explain the differences! I'd love a newer one but at the same time I'm totally happy with the one I've got apart from these few niggles!

My 2006 FR has the wing mirror problem. The drivers side won't fold all the way every time and when it does it has a horrible mechanical, almost crunching, type noise. My last car, a Honda Civic Type R FN2, had a problem with folding wing mirrors whereby they wouldn't fold all the way in and it turned out to be a faulty motor inside the wing mirror. Luckily I had it done on warranty.

As far as the doors unlocking mine is click once to unlock the drivers door and click twice to unlock all the doors.

I have a 2008 FR and I defo have the convenience setting within the MFD

One click on the fob opens the driver's door and two opens everything else.

I also have an intermittent door mirror issue!

IIRC press and hold the bottom button on your right hand column stalk and it should then display your options

Exactly the same thing has happened to me! Must be a reasonably common fault with the Leon
