I have a 2017 SEAT Leon Cupra with about 28k miles. Over the past few months I have ocassionally been having the EPC light turn on.

It has only been happening right when I start a journey and the car is totally cold, usually within a couple of minutes of setting off. The car is then limiting power while the light is on. If I stop and start the car it is fine. It has never come on a second time while the car is warm, or if I've gone somewhere and set off again 30 mins later etc it has not happened, only when totally cold.

Any idea what it might be and if it might be serious? Due a service soon so will get it looked at but just want to know it isn't something I should get looked at ASAP?

Best thing to do is borrow a diagnostic code reader off someone (or buy one- they're pretty cheap - then you've always got one) and check the fault codes. Will tell you exactly what it is. EPC light can have multiple causes.

Mine came on recently due to a defective coilpack, so that might be your problem possibly. As soon as it gets a bit of heat in, it might be ok. Maybe it's just starting to break down???

I'd get a diagnostic check though rather than just guessing.

As above - really hard to offer any real advice other than check for fault codes.

I use the Carista app and dongle. It has paid for itself many times over.

Just looking at the Gen2 Carista dongle on amazon, for £25 it's probably worth getting. Cheers.
