Does it have the full link pack? If no then the activation key refers to that, I believe, Bluetooth should work though

As above. Tech pack didn't include Full Link activation when I got mine last year and had to specify it. Your dealer may simply have not activated it TrishaM.

When you plug your phone in for the first time you should get this msg onscreen

"Apple CarPlay. New Device detected. would you like to connect with Apple CarPlay?"
Click "connect", then you'll need to enter your unlock code or use the fingerprint unlock, it prompts you to do this.

The Phone will then ask if you want to "Allow AirPlay, CarPlay whilst phone is locked"...Allow.

That should be it.

I use an iPhone 6s with mine, no need to use BlueTooth, although some non-Apple cables can be a bit unreliable. IIRC you can check the cable compatibility by plugging in the phone and then pressing Media button on the infotainment display, if the car is seeing the phone then you'll be able to select your music from there as it will see your phone as a USB device.

Welcome to the forum and hope you get it sorted quickly, let us know how you get on.

Apparently I have to pay for the activation... a wee bit annoyed, as the salesman said all I had to do was plug in a lead and it would work

Does anybody have problem with connecting the Iphone through the USB?
I´ve had my phone connected via usb and used full link. But suddenly I can only connect through BT?
It doesn´t show up when I connect the cable. (Its only charging)
If I go in the meny and "search" for a phone nothing shows up :(

No, it isn´t a apple cable. I must try a real apple cable.
But the cable has worked before. It just stopped working all of a sudden.

That's usually the case with their charging capacity as well, eventually they give up and start flagging errors, just a hunch I don't know if it's a known issue i still have 2 weeks till I get my car :(

Thanks for the tip anyway :) I will try it.
Hope these 2 weeks will get by fast for you :)
In 2 weeks I will put my car in the garage over the winter.
Then its about 5 long months until I can enjoy it again :(

Only had this once, and that was after an iOS update...solution was a Hard Reset on the phone.

[Hold down Power button and Home button simultaneously, after about 5 secs the Apple logo appears, phone shuts down. Then press the power button and leave it for about 30secs to reboot. This doesn't affect any data, apps, etc it's just a reboot].
