Hello,

Picked up my 2014 SE with Tech pack today and I'm pretty chuffed with it. However having issues playing music from my iPhone.

Bluetooth audio works perfectly, plus I have an iPod Classic with the old 30-pin connector - this also works fine with the lead provided with the car.

However I can't play music from my iPhone 6S - the car came with what I believe is a genuine USB adapter, I've plugged my iPhone into this through a genuine Apple Lightning cable. It will charge my phone but nothing more. Is this likely a faulty cable, or does the set up just not work this way? If not, can someone point me to where I can get a cable that will work fully with the system, including track listing etc so I can control from the Seat media system?

Have to say I'm a bit disappointed if an expensive cable is necessary, assumed it would be just plug and play through standard USB (like on my mate's 2015 Polo)

Thanks

You can play music over usb only by Full Link function of MIB2 multimedia system. Otherwise you need to use bluetooth.

As others have said, the USB won't work for the iPhone when it comes to music. The USB will work for a USB drive with MP3's on however.

As Dudders07 said, get a 30 pin to lightning adapter and you'll be laughing, I'd say make sure you go genuine though.

If you want to go one stage further however...

You should notice that the MDI cable has a blue collar on the cable itself, if you get an Audi/VW version it will have a red collar. This means you'll get album artwork from your iPhone automatically appearing on the display :) I managed to find one on ebay for £20.

I've combined that with a 1m 30 pin extension cable fed through the back of the glovebox into the footwell and along the center console, to a 30pin lightning adapter so that I can plug my phone in and leave it in the cubby hole rather than the glovebox :)

You got any pictures of this all wired in? I'm intrigued

Didn't work. Everyone needs to download Tapatalk. So much easier to view threads and upload photos

Yeah realise it didn't work, but couldn't delete the post. Used Tapatalk before but wasn't a fan. However re-downloaded it to upload the photos.
