Evening all,

As per the title really, although only a small thing it really grates on me that the digital readout is in KM/H - I'm certain that a while ago I read on here of a user who had used VAGCOM to change the reading from KM/H to MP/H - alas can't find anything after a long search.

1. Is it doable on VAGCOM?
2. Is it legal? (i.e. other advice suggests that UK law says that UK cars must have both readings...)

Thanks in advance

The location that needs changing could be in the instruments section, I'm sure I saw it yesterday while looking for some thing else on wife's new Polo, when you say "VAG-COM" I am assuming that you mean the latest version of VCDS as I don't think that "Long Coding" adaption is possible in the original VAG-COM. For one thing you need a version that has the "Long Coding Helper" data in it to let you identify the correct Byte and Bit.

Edit:- though on the other hand, have Audi and Seat stopped showing the equivalent KPH in the MPH speedometer, is so, then maybe that is why the digital display is in KPH - just a thought, also you could never drive that car abroad if you had no KPH equivalent display, only a problem if you got stopped though, and a worrying one!

You can't change it from kph to mph but you can remove the kph and add a large digital speedo in mph.

As above, you can't change from KPH to MPH, but you can remove the KPH to be replaced with mileage and add MPH as an option of the MFA

I can't remember how I did it off the top of my head. You can do it with VAGCOM coding, essentially you just change the clock country to Australia.

It is illegal. The law states we need both MPH and KPH shown on the clocks. My cars been at the dealer a few times now and no one has battered and eyelid.
