hi all
since getting my car back from the garage after gearbox repair i often get a clunking / knocking noise from somewhere. it sounds when i turn the steering or hit a uneven road surface for example a hole or pot hole in the road i get a clunking / knocking sound. Took it back to the garage this morning who took it for a drive and said they heard the noise, so they got it up on the ramps and made sure everything was done up tight which it was. the only thing he said it might be is ball joint or the way out or bushes, he said if it still shows, come back in 2 days and we will have another look.
anyone have any ideas??
:)

I had this problem turned out the CV joint bearings where severely worn and were trying to pop out of the joint causing the clunking sound. The knocking sound Im still getting but i think its ARB joints.

Sounds like ARB bushings. I've had to change mine twice. You usually only hear it when going into a roughly surfaced junction slowly

I was just about to ask a question about this noise lol where our mrs lives there is a cobbled street and when I drove down it one ngt just as I started there was a sound like somthing was loose and I wondered if it was the bush's. can you get uprated ones??

could it possibly be your exhaust? i had a snapped mounting bracket and it sounded like this; worth checking just in case.

Not had a chance to check for uprated ARB bushes, I have thought about it but in the meantime I just got the OEM ones. If you have either a cupra or standard Leon you can get uprated drop links as this is a different set up to the LCR/S3/TT. Most people get the uprated ones to allow them to slam their cars, dunno if they do ones for OEM ride height

its kind of like that, i get one clunk when i turn or going over a bumper road its like loads of little clonks, but not so loud, but its mainly when i turn, but cruisng on the motorway it is fine, not heard anything on the motorway yet? so the main suspect ARB bushes, how much would these cost to be change or could i do them myself?

just thought id pop to seat to get some expert knowledge and i explained my problem to the technician and he said will most definately be your arb bushes, so i ordered them for £8 a pair so will get them fitted on saturday. hopefully that cures the problem, if not, more searching lol :)

ive got this at the moment
appeared after car had been in for cambelt

took it back and they diagnosed arb bushes as nothing else up with it, weight of suspension when car is on the ramp had finally caused an already close to worn bush to give up. Its going back in tomorrow to have the bushes changed so we will see if that cures it....

I had this when it came back from a service. Everything pointed to CV Joint. Kwik Fit found nothing. The guy who did my service found nothing.

It was the wheel nuts not tight. Infact really quite loose.
