Had this problem for a couple of weeks now. When i pull away without giving it to many revs there is a loudish knocking noise and vibration through the steering wheel. If i pull off at about 3k its fine and if it wheels spins its knocks again. Not sure what it could be. All the engine mounts are tight and in good condition. Exhuast was knocking but sorted that today. Any ideas?

or driveshaft depending on how harsh the knocking is. Is it lowered?

if it slamming the bulkhead it could be the exhaust alignment needing a tweak

either that or id say engine mounts but checked them

does it sound like a body clunk or just feel it through the wheel ??

Yeah the car is lowered. Its the same sort of noise you would get if you gave it no revs puling away and it almost stalling - but a bit louder.

knocking through steering wheel and lowered sounds like driveshaft, does it go away if you turn a certain way? Check CV joints, lowered cars can eat through driveshafts if quite low.

Replaced the cv joint a few days ago as the boot was split and its still there. Going to try the driveshaft next as wheel bearings are fine

Edit: Are the driveshafts the same on the mk3 1.4s and polo 1.4s?
