Hey,

Right my LCR has seen a lot of work over the past 2 years and has clocked up 70k since I got it (not on 93k), its got full service history and had an engine rebuild at 60k so is driving sweet with plenty of boost etc, however I cannot keep putting 90 miles a day on her and pulling her off the road to use as a weekend/social car and getting a cheap run around for the commute.

Anyway, whilst she is off the road Im using the cash I save on fuel, to fix the LCR up to show room standards, but I have the following Q's, can anyone help?

1. My passenger door was dented (hit in a car park), it has creased the 'styled' part of the door above the strip, is this a reskin? new door? the car will eventually be resprayed so I want the nicest repair possible.

2. The steering wheel is loosing its black and showing red through it, can this be dyed/coloured, or is it a new wheel?

3. The car pulls left and the steering wheel sits off center, ive had the tracking etc done by 2 seperate garages and its spot on, wears tyres evenlly too, its just the red line on the wheel is about an inch to the right and if you let go it pulls to the left, or if you center the steering wheel it also pulls to the left.

4. I hit a dead badger few nights ago, has ripped off the plastic skid pan under the oil sump, is this a cheap part? does it even need to be there?

5. Ive broken the passenger rear light plastic back (bit you unclip on the boot), is this an easy/cheap part to get hold of? Part no?

6. I need to replace both rubbers down the rear doors (sit between the two doors), cheap? part numbers?

7. Need to replace the Cupra R badges all around the car, best place to get them?

Once ive fixed her up a local bodyshop is respraying in original colours for a refresh, alloys refurb and then a splitr and hids fitted.

Thanks in advance
Mike

Thats good news as I believe it was the drivers side splash that was damaged, the undertray looked intact aside from needed new clips/fixings ... if it's dry enough this weekend I will have a look. Does it actually play an important role? e.g. is it advised to be there?

A dead badger? Man that must have been messy under the car.

For the badges go to your local dealer.

The car in front of me hit it, I had no time to react and went over it about 25mph, front of car went with a bang and bounced upwards, the splitter went flying and the skid pan dropped down and was scraping along the floor. As a quick fix we pulled the last 2 clips off and removed it inc the splash sides, collected the splitter and went home after checking the sump etc.

Car seems fine, the actual plastic bit seemed fine, it was the drivers side splash guard that took the blow and is cracked in half ... hoping this is the only damage as £25 vs £150 is a lot nicer!

No one got any ideas on the other stuff? e.g. the steering wheel, the pulling to the left?

Oh I see.. Unlucky mate. More so for the badger!

Steering wheel should sit centre after proper alignment and tracking. Car will pull to the left, mine does, my last LCR did and loads of others do. Torque steer maybe above 2nd and then it's wishbone bushes etc that can make it seem worse. I've just got used to mine but check tyre pressures often and get it tracked properly when tyres are done etc.

steering wheel I'd be after a new one tbh mate, easier. try a breakers. the dealers will want alot for a new one I imagine.

The to the left steering seems a bit odd to me, it went in for its MOT last year and the car was fine, they replaced one of the front suspension legs and ever since its pulled to the left nad the steering wheel hasn't been centered ... when I say 'pulls', I mean whatever I do even free rolling, it will pull to the left as if ive turned the wheel 1/4 of a turn ... e.g. I have to be permantly holding the wheel, I cannot let go for a few seconds ...

Thanks for the steering wheel link, will have a bit of a read :)

Theres a debate about whether the undertray is beneficial. I believe it is at higher speeds as it has aerodynamic properies, with vents etc to push up air over the turbo and gearbox. The debate also mentions cooling but I can't comment on that as I've gone from standard straight to Stage 2 and have taken it off as it has broken.

I'm going to replace it with a sheet of aluminum that will run the entire length of the car (with vents / apertures as the standard one, plus more for exhaust cooling etc)

mine does that too  had it tracked 3 times over 2 years and always the same,
i put it down to the angle of the roads (camber so that water drains towards the curbside) if you know what i mean?

R badges are something like £8 each, try SERE motors (and a couple of coats of lacquer on these will help them live a bit longer), steering wheel wear can be re-coloured to black, try LeatherRevive (google) - should cost around £70.

I got replacement R badges off ebay for about 3-4 quid each and put a few coats of lacquer on them. Been on since January and still look good as new
