So my 2019 Cupra 290 EZ went back a few weeks ago, I miss it terribly. In January I ordered a Fiesta 155 mhev to replace it. It was cheap, had a short lead time and would be far better on fuel. Not the same, but a Cupra of decent power was WAY too much money, most other cars had horribly long lead times.
Fast forward a couple of months to the end of May and all mention of the build date disappears from my account with nationwide contracts. I didnt think too much of it, but a week later I still had heard nothing and the Cupra was getting near its return date. I phone them and they say, 'Oh yeah, the factory is closed the car wont be built now.. '. I had to therefore get in a new order quick and there wasn't much available. Ended up ordering a Puma ST-line X which was in stock, already registered and ready to go.
Delivery was booked for tomorrow (27th Jun), insurance and GAP insurance bought, all good right? Wrong. Ford issued a general recall on all 2022 Pumas on Friday, all deliveries are cancelled, no fix available yet, so no expected date. Judging by the owners club forums Ford are terrible at recalls, they take their sweet time, and there is lots of them.
Ford screwed me over twice. To be fair to nationwide contracts the sales guy is trying his best and was also really angry about it.
The option he gave me was to cancel the Ford order completely and try for a very limited stock Cupra Formentor 150 v1 DSG. They are in stock and should be ready to be delivered within 3 to 4 weeks. Ive been thinking about this all weekend, and Ill have to make a choice tomorrow. Do i risk Ford fixing it quickly? Its apparently a software issue, not a hardware one, but who knows?
