Can anyone tell me the location of the Body Control Module (BCM) in a Mk1 Cupra R?

At the moment the Fuel Gauge always reads 'Half Full' and the Water Temp Gauge always reads 90 degrees (They do reset to 0 when the ignition is off)
I have also got 4 orange lights on on the dash - Engine Management, Airbag, ESP and Brake Pad Warning.

So far the team at the garage have;
  1. Reviewed the VAG codes and checked the senders that give the messages.
  2. Had the cluster checked over by an Auto Electrician, and it is working fine.
  3. Replaced a load of corroded wiring from under the carpet.
  4. Bypassed the Airbag connectors in the front seats.
  5. Changed the sender in the Fuel tank.

But nothing has changed.

I have got the car back now, and when I picked it up the owner of the garage said that the Auto Electrician has said that it is probably a problem with the Body Control Module.

If I can locate the BCM, I will be able to see if there is any obvious corrosion, but also get the part number off it and try to get a second hand one before I go down the route of getting a brand new one (£400 for the module, plus fitting and reprogramming).

So back to my original question - Where is the BCM?

They have a YAW sensor which is tucked up under the left side of the steering wheel. You need to remove the lower plastic dash and it's held in by 2 bolts.

Thanks LCR33. Useful info, but, forgive my ignorance....... What has the YAW sensor got to do with the BCM?

YAW sensors are part of the stability controls.

My first thought was about the yaw sensor too, as i've not heard of a BCM in these cars before. I know there's a "central convenience" module, but as far as i know that has nothing to do with lights on the dash, it simply deals with the running of things like central locking and windows etc etc.

If you have esp, engine, airbag and brake warning lights on when there is nothing wrong with the actual systems, then i would of thought that it is a fault with the instrument cluster or wiring.

Have you scanned it for codes yourself? If one of the modules is faulty, then the car should know that

That was my line of thinking at the beginning, but the cluster has been sent away for testing and they came back with 'It is working fine'

I need to run a code scan again on it. I haven't done one myself since I got the car back.

Yeah if you can scan it with VCDS, then it might show up a module code or something to shed some light on it.
