Hello

2024 Seat Ibiz FR anniversary

Before Christmas I had some work done on my car which involved the wheels being removed.

On return the locking wheel key had been left loose on the passenger seat.

I was a little unhappy as the car being nearly new I had expected the locking wheel key to be returned correctly.

I am looking to ask where the correct place for the key is. My car has a spare wheel and the key was kept near that (under the boot floor. Should there be a clip to put it in. Or a pouch? When I lift the floor I can only see the spare wheel?

On the Ibiza, the locking wheel bolt key is normally stored under the boot floor with the spare wheel tools. There’s usually no specific clip for it—just kept in the tool tray or a small pouch with the jack and wheel brace. Leaving it on the seat isn’t ideal, but putting it back with the spare wheel tools is the correct place.
So is this likely to be found under my spare wheel?

You should have something a little like this, which has provision for your wheel security key

If it’s been left on the passenger seat, at least you know it’s been returned to you. Garages have been known to misplace or forget to return the locking wheel bolt key; the customer only discovers it’s missing when stranded at the side of the road with a puncture and they’re unable to remove the wheel with punctured tyre and fit the spare! 😧😡.

As @Seriously? has said, there should be a recess in the foam insert for spare wheel tool kit that the locking wheel nut key sits in (probably the recess circled in the picture below). If you can’t see your tool kit, then it’s likely to be one that’s stored under your spare wheel, in which case you’ll need to remove the spare to find it.
