Hey Guys,

I joined up a while ago when I had my Mk2 Skoda Fabia 1.4 tsi 180ps and picked up some good help with tuning and ideas.

I had to upsize to something more practical so am now in a Skoda Superb 1.8 tsi 4x4 160ps. The plan is to create a bit of a Q car.

I recently agreed a deal for a K04 conversion kit with most of the trimmings to go straight to 300bhp ish. Chassis, brakes and tyres will be uprated to handle this also.

What I am really interested in particular is what people have done with the 1.8 tsi at high levels of tune and especially if anyone has experimented with swapping 2.0 tsi internals into the 1.8 to increase stroke to the same as 2.0 effectively giving the same engine? I understand this is where the difference lies essentially.

Really look forward to any suggestions/support/advice

Was only ever used in some fr tsi's and was a giant flop in the seat range, hence the lack of responses.

A very rare engine in any seat as most people opted for the 2.0 tfsi engine.
Audi has a much wider range of vehicles fitted with it.

Are you saying the 1.8 or 2.0 tsi was a flop for seat?

in the UK the 1.8 tsi was not a big hit at all.

Its pretty "common" here in, mainly used in the altea XL, altea, alhambra.

Though you couldn´t buy it in the leon here.

But its used on other places of the earth cause of "low" cost versus its bigger brother the 2.0 tfsi sport up.

But i wouldn´t change pistons/rods/crankshafts just to turn it into a 2.0 (if its even possible, pretty sure the 2.0 is higher)

Plenty people are making good power out of the OEM lump with a k04 and its pretty on par with the 2.0 at these tunings levels and the cost/benefit of the 1.8 vs 2.0 starts to go away.

Is it not used in the mk3 FR, putting out 185bhp? It seems that you may know more about tuning the 1.8tsi than most here. I'm keen to see the results through!

Thanks for responding guys, perhaps I am showing my lack of knowledge on the Seat engine offering over the years so apologies. I opted to stick this in the Leon section as I know the Leon crowd have a great tuning scene.

The 1.8tsi is the EA888 block just the same as the newer 2.0tsi (some difference to the earlier 2.0tfsi) but VAG do have a habit of labelling different engines different things in different marques.

I have actually bought a complete engine and drive train from a brilliant lunatic on Briskoda who had his 1.8tsi Yeti producing circa 300bhp, but he graduated to transplanting an Audi TT-RS 2.5tfsi into it for over 500bhp. I was lucky enough to buy the 1.8 off him. The kit still has potential to gun for 400bhp on a 2.0tsi so I'm interestedm without buying another engine, how the 1.8 might get there.

I haven't heard it called that before, it has a project thread on Briskoda where it's called the Yeti RS.

It now has a few youtube videos up of it flying round castle Combe and other circuits
