There seems to be a lot of people on here looking for part numbers recently. because of this i thought i would post this info on to try and help out.
I use a website called VAGCAT, it's a very good online spare parts catalogue - broken down by Manufacturer then further by model then year - linky.... http://www.vagcat.com/index.php?
To access the spare parts section of the website you must register on there website, it's free to do so no worries.
Once registered you have to verify your email address - then you'll have access to the parts section.
At the top of the screen there are 4 tabs -
Parts Catalogue / Forums / Members / Calendars.
Click on the Parts Catalogue and you will be presented with this screen -
Click on the Make / Model you want and then you'll see the years listed. Note not all years will be listed, but most will be so you can use your judgement and select the closest year.
Seat Leon Years Listed -
After Clicking on the year you'll then see the subheadings -
Click on the subheading you want then it opens the diagrams / part numbers. It can take a bit of getting used to, sometimes parts your looking for are not in the sections you'd expect i.e. some parts like motors / pumps are found in electrical section not in engines etc even though there bolted to the engine.
This website is very useful for checking for the same parts fitted to other models -
I.e if you've checked the dealers and you decide you want to look for it second hand on ebay.
Once you find the part number you can then search by part number to see which models the parts also fitted too.
Lets say for instance your after a VVT cam chain tensioner unit - found part number as 058109088E.
So then you need to get back to the main model selection screen - you can do this by pressing the part to the right of the model badges that says "Car Parts Online Catalogue"
Put the part number into the box on the right and press search.
The next screen will then show you all the models / makes the part in question is fitted too.
You can then use your new knowledge to narrow down your search in ebay etc.
Hopefully someone will find this info useful
(admins - i have no connection to VAGCAT, i've just been using it for years and think the forum members can benefit from using it)
