ok so picked up the toledo today and wow what a car. its a 1.9 tdi s on a t plate. when the turbo is on it moves like s**t. sometimes the turbo doesnt kick in at all though!! when it does its usually around 2500rpm and it will just pick up and go. i think it might be sticking turbo veins as i have read that no end of times on here. wanna get it sorted though cus its quite annoying. any ideas??

yeah think i might have a hunt around and see if someone near me has it as the only dealer around here is VW and they will rape me for doing it. is it just a case of pluging the laptop into the cars diagnostics port and away you go? or is it a bit more involved than that? im new to vag engines as i've always had french so dont really know what im doing yet:shrug:

i have just found out that the MAF on my car isnt a seat part, its from a mercedes 190 turbo d or something like that but deffinately from a mercedes. do you think this could be giving false readings and making the car think its out of value or something? last night the turbo kicked in around 2000rpm then about 2300rpm it dissapered and then when i hit 3000rpm (which took an eternity) the turbo kicked in a it felt like someone kicked me in the back as we shot off. its staring to get quite annoying now so really wanna get it sorted.

a Merc MAF was a common change a few years ago when loads of MAFs were going, they were cheaper but few people do that now. So no dont think that would be the cause. Logging in VAG COM will confirm if its good or not.

And no logging in vag com isnt a case of plugging in and going, you have to use the laptop to choose what blocks to log then graph it to easily see. http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/tdi.html
