Hi,

I've got a 2013 Seat Ibiza 1.2FR with the SPS on the dash. I'm looking into the possibility of getting Android Auto into the dash, or perhaps be able to run android apps (or similar) on the SPS in order to get a decent satnav which has detailed traffic info (e.g. Waze or Google Maps).

I know where I'm going each day, but the traffic can get really bad, so my main requirement is to be able to run either Waze, Google Maps or TomTom (Live) so I can see how bad the traffic is. I really don't want to have to stick anything to the windscreen. Currently in the other car I can use a Kanu Airframe+ to attach my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to the airvent and run Waze, however the Ibiza's air vents are a funny shape/size and the Kanu doesn't fit (nor can I see any other discrete air vent holder fitting).
The SPS Nav I find is very slow, never see any road traffic congestion on the overlays, the maps are now out of date and it doesn't work very well if you don't input a destination (you get the idea - I don't like the SPS nav!).

Google search brings up various Android headunits which claim they fit a Seat Ibiza 2013/14/15. However, loooking at the pictures they generally fit taking over the space of the old unit and also the traction control button, hazard button and passenger airbag light - which is quite a concern!

For example: on Aliexpress, search for Android Auto Seat Ibiza 2013
(I can't post links yet)

Has anyone on the forum fitted an aftermarket unit which runs Android and successfully managed to run Waze or Google maps in their car?

Alternatively has anyone managed to run something similar on their SPS, or managed to replace or customize a TomTom or Android unit to be held up by the SPS connector (and be powered by those pins). Ideally a phone adaptor/holder which can snap into the SPS connector would solve my needs!

Any suggestions? - What is everyone else doing?

Thanks

Yours seems to be the first face lift Ibiza, to fit an aftermarket head unit you will need to purchase something similar to part: 6J0927137B Part link. This is used in the pre face lift models. This will vary depending on the options on your car and depending on the head unit you may need a fascia as well.

I am looking into a AVH-X8700BT for mine with android auto, seems like a good aftermarket one.

You can always get a suction mount phone holder and take it off when you don't need it.

For the SPS, I don't have a clue as I don't have one, there is a thread about changing the SPS but you need the stock head unit for it to work it seems.

Thanks for the information. I'm not ready to do anything with the car for the moment, so will do more research - I'm not very keen on switching out the existing buttons unless absolutely necessary!

I could well end up chickening out and getting a suction mount!

Do let us know how you get on if you get your head unit - looks nice on the website, so look forward to hearing your experience with it!
