Hi all,

Have people heard about this already?

I contacted a company to quote me on a set of Mintex Extreme Brake Pads for me LCR.

...and they replied with the following:

Mintex have told all their dealers to return all extreme pad stock to them & to stop selling it !!!

...??

ok - I just spoke to their 'MotorSport' Dept'

The fella told me that they have withdrawn the 'Extreme' range - due to poor sales and that dealers have been advised that they can return their stock for a refund etc..

....he assured me there were no safety issues or problems with the pads.... They're basically just canning the 'Extreme' range....

Cheers for checking  I'll amend the thread title.

Yeah we sell Mintex at work and all the Extreme pads had to be returned about 3 weeks ago.

I bought a set for my Cupra a few weeks before so called Mintex straight away to see if they were faulty, they assured me it was down to dropping the range. Shame, as they were bloody cheap!

The Extreme pads are exactly the same compound as the Mintex 1144 pads, just marketed to suit a different market. So you can still get them!

I tend to use Mintex on both my road and track cars, seem to be slightly better and they don't eat the discs like the Ferodos do. Do need to be bedded in correctly to get the full benifits though!

I just recently had Mintex Extreme's fitted by AMD Technik on the 8th March so some places may still have stock??

Can say they are pretty good pads.

I've only just got past the bedding in period but they are deffinitley about a billion times better than the Red Stuffs I had on there before & it'll be a shame now that I'll have to replace them with something different again next time.

that would explain why they are calling them back and saying stop selling them. Perhaps they will repackage them?
It strange to call them back even if they have poor sale numbers, any product that gets canned sees an increase in sale as anyone who has liked the product get what they can get their hands on.
Perhaps they feel if they are not marketing them they cant expect them to sell. Which if the case is good on them.

Just seen this thread on the mintex pads.

Ive had some mintex extreme pads in my LCR sennd about november last year and can only draw one conclusion.

WHAT A PILE OF S**T, they've squealed like no ones business since i had them, and when i got the car serviced on friday he spotted that, no only are they about two thirds gone but they completely f**ked my discs up too..

Ive got a set of rear extreme pads if anyone wants them, wont be using them again.

Ferodo's DONT eat disks.. what a load of tosh
One of the most disk friendly pads I've come across which is why I use them racing the badgwagen.

I have had them before in the 312's and they wore down to nothing on one side and loads of meet on the other as if they where brand new but with a crack though the middle

Only did one trackday and 100ish road miles
