Done a search on this and was amazed not to find a host of threads. Since we got the car exactly a year ago today turning the mirror switch to fold the mirrors up/down has always felt like a game of 'switch roulette' will it or wont it break!

Well sure enough today exactly a year to the day the car was registered its snapped off! Surely this is a common fault? the design is very poor!

Anyway local dealer was shockingly poor on the phone, wanted to book us in for Sat 16th, drop it off at 8 and 'leave it with them' so they can inspect and decide if its warranty or not. Then they'd order the part and rebook the car in!!!!!!!! What a piss take!

Anyway contacted the dealership who supplied the car who were much more useful, agreed to order the switch in advance and will check and decide if its covered on the day!

Has anyone else had this item replaced under warranty?

Thanks

I've always thought mine felt a bit fragile, but it hasn't snapped off so far. I tend to only use it now if I really have to because it doesn't feel right. Little things like that are so annoying!

Mines been used constantly since last august and feels the same as it did. I use it all the time and have not had any issues or worries.

Im sure it will be a warranty job.

I posted about this several months ago when mine basically fell off, the design is crap designed to break, dealer said warranty job ,seat said wear and tear, I rang seat uk and stuck a few fff's into them and they agreed to replace it under warranty on this one occasion.

On the Ibiza the mirrors don't fold up remotely.
It can only be done via the switch in the car.

I can get the sunroof and the windows to open and shut with the key fob but the mirrors don't move.

I was told the Ibiza can't do the mirrors.

Are you talking about mirrors on the LEON ?

I decided to bite the bullet and just do it myself! Local dealer wanted the car for 3 hours (I changed the swich in under 2 minutes) And the supplying dealer who were very helpful when i enquired is 40 mins away! The switch is only £20 so I'll let SEAT have that one on me :)

Still think the design is crap though! We fold the mirrors every time we park it and i'll be amazed if this one lasts more than a year again!

It just need prising out with a trim removal key then unplug it so easy....if you havnt got a trim removal key try a knife with some tape on the end to protect from scratches

Is it possible to replace only the plastic? I mean the switch is good, but the plastic around is broken.
How to I separate the round thing from the rest to replace only the plastic around?

The whole switch is like this, it looks like it can be separated but I don't know how:

dm222, I have not tried this - yet, but if you look at the picture you posted, you can see that the switch is retained in the trim adaptor using "lugs" - well one "lug" is visible on that picture, if you gently ease that lug "out" slightly - and any other "lugs" you can see, I'd expect that you could push the switch back through the trim adaptor.

I removed mine today, tried to open to see if it's possible to replace only the plastic but it's not, once I opened everything inside desmantled, very small pieces, so I will replace the whole thing. The part number is 6J1 959 565
