Very nice mate, any plans for them?

How come you have two, does one belong to a better half?

Erm ive not really got any plans, ive been looking around for some new wheels for the TDi but nit found any id like for it atm.

I usually like to keep my cars standard looking  But i would like to get it remapped soon.

Nope they are both mine.

The silver one was a christmas present from my parents in 2004.

Then last september i started uni and wanted something more economical and quicker for my 60 mile daily commute. So i got my TDi and i didnt really want to sell my 1.0S so now i have two

But my mum is now using my silver one for a bit, since she has just sold her car.

i thot the derv would be a good bit lower at the front, obv not!
good wee pics mate, like it, Mrs BCM has a lupo! salmmed on coilovers love them!

Yeah i did think that, and actually the silver one usually looks lower at the front than the diesel but higher at the back, dont know how that can be though

Sounds cool, i love them too, i really can not think of a car that would do the same job as my arosa does that i would rather have, think ill have these for ever

I really quite like Arosa's, hope they treat you well!

Well the TDi has been faultless up to now. Ive had the cambelt changed, full service and a new set of tyres, so hopefully it will be all set for a reliable future

Carnt really say the same for my other one though, its been in and out of the seat dealer more times than i can remember.

From silly little problems like the interior light sensor failing and the hazard switch breaking.

To bigger problems like needing new rear shockies and a engine problem that two Seat dealers couldnt cure, resulting in a new engine.

Thankfully it was all done under warranty, but i was not impressed with the service from either dealer one bit, it was in numerous times for the same problems, with wrong parts turning up.

They wouldnt believe there was a problem with the engine and used the usual excuse of "that is just how your car is" so its doing about 28MPG runs on 3 cylenders when hot and is like driving with the hand brake on!, im sure thats normal then :headhurt:

The engine issue could have been rectified, i think it was a sticky valve lifter but that was never checked, both garages skimmed the head, then the car was left in the car park with the top of the engine off, so i can imagine it was getting filled with dust. There was all sorts of things tried with the engine, and it put back together i would go and try it and say its still not right. Im not sure exactly what they did now, im not that mechanical minded.

I then got onto SEATUK who kept a close eye on what the dealer was doing with it, and SEATUK later requested them to put a new engine in as i wasnt happy how much messing around they had done with it.

So it was at the dealers for 3 months while they were tyring out things with it, and it eventually got a new block at 25,500 miles, its not donw 36,000 miles, and since the warranty has run out, ive not had one problem with it:)

However, when i collected it from it getting its new engine the front wheel bearing was gone, so that was replaced, and now every 3K it needs a new set of front discs as they kepe distorting, had i thought about what could be causing this earlier i would have taken it back. I think the hub has been bent when the bearing was done. So now i need to get a new hub, and another set of discs.

The front bumper was also damaged when i collected it, they tried to fill the scrape in with paint which looked horrid, so i wanst happy and they did spray the bumper after that.

Thankfully though i had a loan car each time it was in, so ive had just about all of the seat range over the time ive had my car . But the seat dealer is a 20 mile round trip each time, and at peak times that can be a real drag.

I think most of the problems i had could have been solved easily and without fuss, unfortunately they wernt

But even after all its problems and all my complaining  i still have it and love it, and i even bought another one  And in not planning to sell either within the next few years anyway.

Oh justlivyalife, 54MPG is very good, i wouldnt have thought they would be so good actually. But try and beat 63MPG average and 75MPG on a run :p

Sounds like you've had your fair share of problems! :p.

Reason for high average is 90% of my driving is Motorways at 65/70! Have done 15k since I bought the car 6 months ago :p. Wish I could get such high MPG to be honest as doing 500 odd miles a week gets expensive! :(.

Yes i have had :( and sorry for the long essay there

Oh right i see, Still though i think thats good, it is a 1.9 afterall, i usuall average between 56 and 65MPG, depending on how i drive it that week

That is quite a few miles you do then, yeah i bet it does. I was averaging 2K a month too, but ive finished uni for the summer now so im not doing as much.

I'm really warming to these little beasts. I think the TDi, or a TDi Lupo, would be on my wish list should I ever decide to get something smaller and cheaper to run than the LCR.

How does the TDi perform? In terms of speed and handling, I mean.

Performance wise you can remap them to 100-110 bhp easy - giving them more power than the 16v sport. Handling - given the right suspension they're go-karts with roofs :)

Personally id go for the arosa over the lupo (and i did ) but its cheaper, better looking, it gets RCL and a pollen filter, the lupo doesnt.

Its also lighter which make it about 0.3 second quicker to 60, so a HUGE difference

Performance wise, well when i first got mine i was really suprised (and still am) at how well it performs, it feels quite quick for what it is.

I know someone with a 1.4 75BHP petrol lupo and mine feels so much quicker.

Im thinking about getting it remapped soon, but ive had it since september 06, done 14K miles and im still not bored with the performance. Its enough!

Handling, well both of mine handle differently, my TDi rolls less but doesnt feel quite as chuckable round town as the 1.0 does.

Mine is totally standard, and the grip is quite good, you have to be really pushing it hard round bends and roundabouts for it to step out. It depends on tyres of course, which they seem to rely heavily on.

For example some cars ive driven not matter what brand of tyres it has on it grips, but the arosa seems to need really good tyres for the same grip, if you see what i mean.

Coilovers seem the popular way to go i think. But i doubt ill do that, im happy with its handling, i like the roll it has, makes me smile :D
