Hi everyone,

This is my first post so have my fingers crossed.

I have a problem with the drivers side rear door electrics in that all electrics are very intermittent, ie, interior light, door lock and window work very occasionally.

The car has been to the garage and the wiring checked back as far as the dashboard and all seems to be ok. As it seems to be neither one thing or the other but everything, I'm assuming its an earth fault but am at a loss where to look?

Has anyone experienced this and can offer some advice please?

Cheers,

Nick

i think its the switch in the door lock my self, its a really small switch and is a bloody crap designe, mine is kacked in my drivers door, not a big issue to me really and it seems to work when i spray it up with wd40...
the window will prob be the regulator, a comon fail in the golf mk4 platform or could be the window switch, again its a normal fail

Cheers for that Tez, all the door electrics and loom up to the dash have been checked and are 100%

All the electric items either sometimes work or sometimes not (they all 'went' together...) which leads me to think its an earthing problem.

I just wondered if anyone had a similar problem and what did they do to put it right? I dont want to rip the dashboard out unnecessarily.

Thanks! :)

Is there a connector block to allow easy removal of the rear door. If it's intermittent then a check wouldn't reveal it if it was working at the time, but that goes for any problem. Just wondering if there is a loose connection or a bit of corrosion, otherwise not a clue soz????

I had an earth fault and all sorts went haywire. I had an auto electrician come out and he sorted it. Only cost me £50 and he ran all the leads for my amps to the boot in with that too!

Hi Dabbalz

I think you're probably right, I can usually sort things out but I guess I'll give in and try a sparky.

Cheers!
