Hi all,

Been a lurker on the forum for a while but picked up my Cupra 280 yesterday so now's the time to say hello.

Only put about 20 miles on her since yesterday due to other commitments but I'm already finding it interesting coming from a remapped e91 330d on winter tyres. Very different beasts, especially in this weather.

I reserved this back in September (at Sep prices so it was a BARGAIN) and when it was brought up from Sheffield they noticed a dsg fault. It then sat in limbo to have repairs authorised and then they finally put it in to a local, and very well respected, gearbox specialist. I have the invoice for damn near £3K in repairs. So it should be in good nick mechanically for its 70k miles. Had its wheels refurbed too in? Otherwise standard, so just needs another interior clean to remove the dealers 'back-to-black-everything-valet' everything!

Interior is otherwise immaculate and it has every extra I wanted - pretty chuffed to say the least!

I guess I just need to start saving for the mats/boot liner/remap/dogbone mount/PS4's/winter wheels & tyres and MIB1 > 8 inch MIB2 retrofit eh?

Cheers

Cheers guys.

Tell you want - that wheel hop is nothing like I'd read/understood it to be. I thought it was a little bit of wheel spin and maybe a slight vibration/torque steer or something. Instead, it nearly knocked my fillings out. Thought the whole suspension and sub frame had collapsed. Dog bone mount already on order! I thought i was using a light throttle too :D

Next job, get used to how the cruise control works and switch off the lane assist or whatever that little car is in front of me on the dash. Confusing the hell out of me coming from the BMW method.

Dogbone mount went in yesterday. My word...instant difference...incredible mod. Didnt really notice any increase in noise or vibration until i put it in reverse. Sounds a bit diesel rattly. Oh and I had the little isofix-blanking-doofers in the glovebox and they started rattling like crazy at idle but I definitely wouldn't remove it due the drive-ability benefits it brings. Well chuffed.

JB4 went in last night/this morning. Connected the two top most plugs. Saw the AutoInstruct vid for a Golf where the guy gets the bottom one from above with a posi drillbit. Yeah, that's not happening on mine. I've got scrawny arms but its so much more than just being able to lay fingers on it. Anyways, then tried to roll the car forward onto my ramps to attack it from below. Car wont start with top two plugs in but unit not powered on...obviously. So, undid them and started whole job again on ramps.

Unfortunately not had the time nor access to the right roads to really try out Map 1 :(
