New Leon - don't know what this is in interior??

Hi, have just bought my first Leon as i couldn't resist it.

Anyway, there's something in the interior that i cannot work out what it is. Couldn't find it in the manual, so suspect it may not be original, but figured i'd ask.

On the interior ceiling, just behind the lights, there's a beige type grill thing, rectangular in shape, almost like a vent type thing. I don't know how else to describe it and can't take a picture right now.

Anyway, if anyone happens to know what this might be i'd appreciate finding out.

Many thanks

Ah, ok, that would make sense. Going to pose a problem when i nip into a shop with the dog in the car if i forget to turn it off.

You can disable it by pressing the lock button on the keyfob twice.

Isnt this dangerous? Double lock activates the deadbolts so if someone is in the car they cannot unlock without the remote, the door handles wont unlock. I thought the only solution was to use the key in the door so it doesn't set the internal alarm sensor.

I thought it was the other way around. Double click de-activates the deadbolts so anyone in the car can get out. Think I'll go and test this in a while and see what happens. Will report back! :)

Apparently so. Read about it in a post on here. Someone locked their missus in the car then got her to bounce up and down to test if it went off or not...lol.

hahah that really made my sunday i would of paid money to see that

my understanding is that double clicking the remote deactivates dead-locks.
That is to say that a standard 1 click does activate deadlocks.

This makes sense as you would want the car to be as secure as possible unless you specify otherwise. Not the other way around.
It is a common misconseption, - people thinking the extra 'clonk' be deadlocks being activated, when infact they are being de-activated with the 2nd press of the keyfob.

Im not sure regards the volumetrics - is there not a button in the car to de-activate?

Just checked. Normal press of the lock button on the keyfob locks everything and you can't open the doors from the inside. Press it twice and you are then able to open the doors from the inside.

My previous car, 58 plate Golf had a disarming button inside but I can’t see one on the Leon.

The other strange thing is, on the Golf the button pushing is the other way round.

I had the Leon for 3 weeks before I realised I was not dead locking the car when I leave it.:D
