Hello All,

Long story short I currently drive a 2015 Ibiza FR 41.4 TSi ACT. It's had ongoing issues from new so I'm negotiating with the dealer in question to get me into a Leon.

As part of the negotiations I've been offered a Leon SC FR 1.4 TSi ACT 150 - 18" alloys, Tech Pack and Convenience Pack - In Red (I believe Emocion Red).

Only gripe is the dealer system shows it's a MY15 (un-registered brand new car) which has been sat unsold at another dealer for 6 months. It will be registered as a new 65 plate car - I've requested the build date and it was built 22nd May 2015.

From my research MY16 was week 22 - Does this car just miss the date or is there possibility its MY16?

I've looked at the differences between MY 15 and MY16 and my main concern is the Nav screen / mirror link thingy. Is there that much of a difference between the MY's that I must get a MY16 or are the differences not an issue? Anything else I should consider with the MY differences?

Thanks in advance!

I wish I had waited and got an MY16 to be honest. The Sat Nav is soooo much better and its got the Link bits too. You can probably tell by seeing where the USB socket is - MY15 in glovebox, MY16 bottom of centre console.

That was my concern. What if. I was hoping it wouldn't grate on me, but it might.

Has anything else changed that might annoy me?

The USB Location - I'd actually prefer in the glove box for security reasons.
The Nappa Leather - Meh
Sat Nav - Upsets me but I think I can live with it - It's an update from the Ibiza anyway!

Anything else?

You can update the new sat nav yourself I believe and not have to pay for the experience.

Not sure about other changes tbh ....

By just changing the head unit? Or is it a bit more complicated?

I think you can upload map updates via SD card whereas you have to visit a dealer and pay for it with MY15.

while you can update the maps in a MY15 you cant update the software to the full link as its a new system

personally I would opt for the full link option if you can

I reckon that car won't have it!

if the car is been sold lower than the list price it will be a MY15 that the need to get rid of

but to be honest you will love the car compared to the ibiza!

I came from an ibiza and there was just something about it that wasn't right! the Leon feels so much better in every way possible!

the sat nav in the ibiza is pretty good to be honest I havent really had chance to use the one in the Leon yet!

I'd try and get the my16, the original sat nav is painfully slow at times and a lower resolution screen. It depends how technologically savy you want the car to be

Have had both MY15 and MY16. Nav on the MY16 is significantly better.

Dealer should be able to tell you what MY it is.

Meppershall Beds.
depends on money?
you'll pay less for the one you've been offered than a MY16, and it'll still be streets ahead of the Ibiza.
you pay your money, you get your choice.
What's the cost difference betwen a known new car, and thie other one?

Whats the point of getting the higher navigation pack if the newer cars come with the bigger screen and better satnav?

Thanks for the info guys.

I am technology savvy so the newer Nav and screen would be preferred. The other MY16 specs I can live without.

Basically my Ibiza has had issues since 400 miles, been back to the dealer 4 times and it's still not fixed, I've complained (more than once) and I've told the dealer I want out of the car (And that I'll reject if I have to).

We are trying to negotiate me into a new car before I have to reject and things go all legal.

The issue is my Ibiza is on PCP, has a £12,300 settlement figure and the dealer has (very cheekily) valued my car at £9,500. Negative equity means something has to give.

So as a compromise the dealer is taking my car back, refunding me my deposit and putting it towards this Leon. In essence I'm being offered this unsold MY15 car at MY16 prices. The dealer will not discuss getting me into a brand new MY16 car as part of these negotiations.

I'm compromising but the other options appear to be keeping this lemon of an Ibiza or fighting further.

My MY16 Leon comes with the Full Link but I was never given a code but just saying it comes as standard, not sure about all trims.

Out of interest what problems are you having with the Ibiza? How old is it? That seems like a low trade in compared to tour settlement as well as having put a deposit in!

I would be looking at talking to the finance company too! Even though it's seat finance it will be run as a separate company!

Suspension and Steering. Started from around 600 miles. Had new droplinks and steering arms already. The front suspension is very vocal and unstable on uneven/bumpy roads causing the car to change trajectory. The steering wheel is twitching and jerking every time the car goes over small bumps and cracks on the surface of the road, also causing the car to change trajectory. It only started doing this when they changed the steering arms. Car has been re-tracked however the rear came back out of spec but the dealer is adamant it's correct.

5 months old. £17,000 car!

Spoken to finance company and Seat UK.

Anyway - I'm not having the Leon, the final deal they have offered me is £4,000 more expensive than if I returned the Ibiza, got my deposit back and re-financed a MY16 car from another dealer!!

doesnt sound good at all!!

I would be tempted to get a second opinion then go in armed with the info if no joy then reject it!

I must say though when I had my ibiza FR the steering was very light and twitchy and you could feel the feed back from the bumps on the road

although it never knocked!

I had a problem with creaking steering and they replaced the tie rods and problem solved!

when I first got the car it used to pull to the left I got that sorted too although I was never full happy with the steering alignment to be honest! if you let go of the steering it would always drift to the left! they said it could be the camber!

getting the Leon showed up the faults on the ibiza to be honest! its such a solid car in terms of steering input! although the Leon is an SE and I miss the stiffness of the FR for cornering!

Already had a 2nd opinion. The 3rd visit back to the Dealer failed to find any issues so I took it to an independent who within around 5 minutes pointed out tracking was toe out. 4th Visit to the dealer they took it to an independent to get tracked and t came back with the rear out of spec! :wtf:

My sister has the same car and her car is a nice composed drive, as mine was before the the issues started. I've drove back to back and mine is such a lose drive compared to hers now.
